you are either a Miles apologist or a Oregeron hater. Either way if you can't see that Miles grossly mismanaged the roster the last several years you don't know jack about football and recruiting. The O line is not championship caliber and QB play is mediocre at best.

I agree with him about the OL. And we all know how key it is. Even more so now as compared to 2005 since an above average line just doesn't cut it in our situation.

That's for us to lament.

That's for CEO and Austin Thomas to fix, as quickly as they can.

shall we compare the 4 years prior for both? CLM inherited a program that won a National Title and sec titles...COach O and Saban did not so how is the program better today than when CLM took over?

Let's use Saban's 5 years here vs Miles' final 5 years. Better record in a much stronger conference.

When are either of those guys going to be ready to contribute?

I'm expecting 9-3 to 8-4 next year. I think that's reasonable given the upheaval of both the roster and coaching staff.

This is reasonable. When it happens, however, the posters here will start with the "there is no excuse not being in the final 4 with all this NFL talent ..."

I keep seeing this about the OL yet people who get paid to judge these things and use stats rated the OL line #1... However, a board dedicated to LSU rates them as poor.

If LSU goes 8-4 next year then it is time for a change

Yes the opinions of Tigerdroppings matter more, I believe I've learned that through the years.

Forget these are non-biased individuals reviewing it, TD is the source of truth, justice, and knowledge.

i honestly think the program is stronger today than when Miles took over.

We recruit a wider geographical area, the LSU brand is significantly stronger, and the facilities and money have continued to improve.

Say what you want about Miles. But, one thing he did do at an exceptional level was keep the "Program" running at an extremely high level. It's why I was never that concerned about him underperforming. The program never took a step backwards, and at the point where a change was going to be made, whoever took over was going to be able to hit the ground running.

Stats would say LSU has one of the worst offenses in the country.

Digging through the numbers would tell you that that's not entirely true.

Offensive line rankings are based on rushing yards a game (LSU rushes way more than most) and sacks / QB pressures allowed (LSU passes way less than most).

It's an inflated stat that means nothing

Curious when LSU offense was good?
One of worst passing offenses in football (101)
One of the better rushing offenses in football (21st)
Middle of the pack scoring offense (62nd)
A pretty bad redzone offense (76nd)

Which numbers tell other wise?

That 65th ranked passing efficiency?
Must be the 45th ranked pass per completion...

points per possession. Yards per possession. A real, and factual stat.

Why should LSU's offense be compared to Baylor's and Oregon's when they run completely different types of offenses in terms of tempo.

LSU runs less plays per game by choice and should be ranked accordingly.

It's also why their defensive stats are so inflated. Albeit, this year wasn't too bad. but in years past their defense was very inflated in terms of points per possession.

The problem with the o line is in the weight room. The o line dominates less talent and year in year out since 2012 bama pushes us around. We have failed to continue to innovate and pursue excellence in strength and conditioning. That is why we have slow feet and get shoved around on both the inside and outside of the line.

Look, the debate is valid but not nearly so definitive as Guilbeau and many posters are making it out to be. GG wrote an article with interesting takes on draftees from the past that can be impossible to measure against draftees in an unknown future.

Like many teams, we have strengths and weaknesses, neither of which Les MIles would ever acknowledge. That's why the man was fired.

At least we have a coach who knows what we have and don't have and will try to fill the gaps this year and the years to come.

Is the cupboard bare? Hell no. Are we set to win a national championship? Umm, I don't think so. One reason is depth, especially on the oline.

And finally, until we get an elite qb who can do more than just "manage" the game, it is extremely doubtful we win a national championship.

But in the SEC, except against Alabama, I'd take next year's team's potential over anyone else in the conference. So I say, the Tigers got a lot of bite in them and ain't no one, including Bama, are too excited to meet us on the field of play.

I say kick arse in 2017 and don't look back.
