Most of what GG writes comes from Td.com. I thought everyone knew that.

So are you ladies mad that GG has high expectations for LSU sports? The Advocate has too many apologists for our programs. If GG has to overcompensate for their lack of critical response, so be it. But for shite sake quit acting like he stole your boyfriend.

His "documentation" is probably what his fatass opinion is. Don't need to read his article.

If you are going to discuss it you need to read it.

the term journalistic integrity escapes me. they have license to fire away w/o any resulting responsibilities for their stance or, sadly, their accuracy. it's all about the numbers and has been for awhile now. i don't even consider newspapers quotable sources any more as they are motivated by so many more things than accuracy of reporting news; TV is worse.

You're 100 percent right. The Advocate is a PR machine for LSU sports. At least the Times Pic finds a balance for the most part.

But you're never going to find any sports writer from the Advocate criticize or at least make an honest assessment of LSU sports -- they are scared to upset the power that lies in the hands of the athletic department.

i would rather football be successful than any other sport.

but there was a time when most of our sports were tearin' shite up. (early to mid 2000's or so). the question is how can this athletic department get back to that success?

His first sentence has an error.

quote:

BATON ROUGE – After a glorious run in the previous four-year window from 2003-06 with two national football championships, three women’s Final Fours and a men’s Final Four, LSU has clearly regressed in football and basketball and is on a downswing in baseball as well.

LSU did not have two national football championships from 2003-2006. They came in a five-year run.

1. 2003
2. 2004
3. 2005
4. 2006
5. 2007

But everyone knows football is king.
2011 will mark the 4th year in a row that LSU will not make it to a BCS Bowl.

20 BCS Bowl games in 4 years hosting 40 teams... the Tigers were/will be MIA once again.

Yes... because LSU has a GREAT shot at playing in the Rose Bowl every year....

Call it what it is. In 4 years, there is the opportunity for 8 SEC teams to play in BCS Bowl games... and we were a single game away from that honor last year.

I was waiting for the "football is king" comment. I agreee completely, but if we don't win the SEC West for a 4th straight year I think you can safely say the football porogram has slipped to some degree.

You could probably already make that claim based on 2008-09. By all accounts, we're on our way back up, however.

There is statisically little difference between 2001 - 2005 and 2006 - 2010.

Virtually identical win loss records (51-14) versus (51-15). The SEC record difference is the most glaring: 31-11 versus 27-14, resulting in the 2001-2005 yielding three SEC-CG to 2006-2010 single appearance.

It is a slightly repackaged Sabanista argument, somewhat inappropriate coming off an 11-2 year, with a single score separating us (against the Heisman Winner-led, eventual BCS champ, no less) from getting to a SEC-CG - and the big game.

When he said B- for the period, he lost credibility. B+ almost warranted by 2007 alone - throw in 2006 and 2010, it can arguably be graded an A- for the period.

Question for Guilbeau:

How many SEC Champions won the NC in 2001-2005? Now 2006-2010? I think the competition in the league has taken a step up since Saban was sporting the P&G.

monumental decline

Anyone claiming the last 4 years are in a monumental decline has missed a whole lot of LSU seasons.
