Last few years we have enjoyed some great pitchers at LSU. Who was considered great pitchers before Ben McDonald came to LSU?

Was Mark Guthrie before? That’s a long time ago brother, lol. Maybe Barry Manuel?

Big Joe Chiggins. Pitched at LSU in 1962-63. Recorded overall ERA of 0.03 in his two years. Had a 92 mph changeup. Dude was Paul Skenes on steroids.

Can’t remember when both played but both were great. Barry was one of my all time favorites

Paul Stefan (sp?) had a good season in like '75.
Guthrie was before Ben. Very good pitcher. Son played for the Gators.

Guthrie, Clay Parker, Barry Manuel, and Russ Springer all made the majors.

Big tall left handed kid from gonzales, Greg (I can’t recall his last name) could throw it pretty hard. I umped a few of his games.

1989 roster in my opinion was the best staff ever assembled.
