They are just gonna start charging timeouts or run time off the clock for it. It cannot continue.

I’m not sure they’ll ever make it a penalty, due to the risk of penalizing a real injury. A better option might be, the player has to sit out the rest of the drive

Why is running a hurry up offense considered just taking advantage of the rules and a defensive player feigning injury to stop it isn't? I mean the rules say a player can request medical assistance, but he has to leave the game if he does. Isn't that really the same thing, taking advantage of the rules? Just curious.

Because their is an actual rule that prohibits a team from feigning an injury to be the beneficiary of a time-gaining advantage.

I take it that drama is not his major.

2018 NCAA Fooltball Play Interpretation It says...
Also note:
quote:So the officials are essentially directed not to call a penalty on this. Though it does add..
The Football Code details that feigning injury is dishonest and is contrary to the spirit of the rules. That said, the officiating crew cannot make any medical decision based on a player that is down on the field with an injury, and that player will be given full protection under the rules. Rule 3-3-5-a-1 states, “When in question, officials will take a timeout for an injured player.”
quote:Frankly, I suspect that if the SEC head office starts penalizing teams for feigning injury, they will not be doing so in an unbiased way. Perhaps we should be careful what we ask for.
If an officiating crew has a concern about a team potentially feigning injuries, that information should be reported back to that team’s Conference for review.
Also note:
quote:
Play #1:After making a 1stdowninbounds, Team A rushesto the line in order to snap the ball in a hurryup mode. The Referee restarts the clock after awarding Team A’s first down, and just before the snap, Linebacker B54drops to the ground in his position and is holding his knee.RULING:The officials will stop the clock for an injury timeout. Following the time out for the injured defensive player, the play clock will be set to 40 seconds. If less than one minute in the half, Team A has the option of a Ten-Second Runoff.

Ok. So make a rule that no substations can be made during an injury timeout and the players on the field must kneel down facing away from their coaches at look at the ground so no signals or changing of plays can be made. In essence, you take away that advantage to feigning an injury.

The big advantage is that the fat linemen can catch their breath.
