You are a completely clueless idiot.Tenn is a national power because they had one solid season in 15 years.Congrats for being the dumbass of the day.LSU’s talent hasn’t fallen off the coaching fell off which is why we have a new coach.Vitello was also never offered the job.He got a raise because of the fear that other teams such as us would offer him the job that’s what agents are for to get you more money.Florida’s coach was about to jump ship to LSU real quick. You don’t know shite period

I’d put them at 5th in the SEC. If you wanna call that a national power, then fine. Do you have an argument with any of the other 4 ahead of LSU? Arky? state? Vandy? Florida?

Fine. Don’t imagine. Just look at the stats and results and the fact that we had Milazzo as our cleanup.

People are pouncing on Tenn being 5th in my top 5 when I could have easily put USCe there instead. Either way, LSU isn’t top 5 in the SEC. No one is arguing against the other 4.

I’ve got LSU’s “program” currently 4th in the SEC.

Vandy
Miss State
Arkansas
LSU/Florida tie

I think we are still ahead of Tennessee and Ole Miss.

But Jay Johnson is cleaning up in recruiting right now (if they get to campus) and the fans are hungry. I expect a bump in the next year or two.

There wasn't a drop off in talent under Mainieri but the last time we had a catcher that the fans actually liked was 2017.

The bottom of our roster, the part with all the guys that transferred out because they weren't good enough, was filled with guys that couldn't get innings or at bats at D2 or JUCO or NAIA places they transferred to.

Since Tennessee is already in the conversation, let's compare that to the CUSA player of the year (Austin Knight, Charlotte) and the weekend starter of a Super Regional team (Kolhepp, Notre Dame) that transferred out of there because they couldn't get playing time at Tennessee. That surely hurt the Vols last year, right?

Not sure how you can Tie with Florida when they’re probably second. Always good. New stadium. Competent coach.

They underachieve most years. Wouldn’t want to play them in a 3 games series, but their postseason results other than 2017 are worse than Paul’s.

I’m on board with hijacking this thread into a bash Sully thread.

Remember during the coaching search when people were bashing Vitello saying he only made it to Omaha because they played LSU but then also lauding Sully for winning a championship?

Our fans are dumb.

Eh. 2019 sucked but they won 20 sec games in 2018 and 17 in 2021. Just one down year.

i already told you im not.

that season never happened (conference play on), so i’m not going to pretend to know exactly how it would have unfolded.

that you need a non-existent season to prop up your ridiculous argument that Tennessee has passed us up as a program speaks volumes.

fact is pick a time frame that includes more than just 2021 and we finish above them.
hell if we using the powers of guessing what hasn’t happened yet, we’re above them in every single preseason poll this year too.

Exactly. What we put out there offensively in the 7-9 spots in our lineup was atrocious. Even for a smaller school it would be bad.

Cant say i really paid attention to this, but i believe you.

This kind of ties into the other half of the talent argument. We have lacked pitching depth, basically since PM got the job. He was absolutely able to bring in a few top arms, but we never had much talent in the pen. And all it took was missing on a few top arms the last few years, and we see what its turned into

I haven’t even mentioned the 2020 Tenn season to prop them up. 2020 LSU was bad by just about every standard. We got fricking no hit. The pandemic saved us some embarrassment and Paul got an extra year out of it.
