At a private reunion at LSU's basketball game Tuesday in Maravich Center, former Tigers' coach Dale Brown jokingly tries to grab the jacket of Vanderbilt alum Bob Dudley Smith just as Brown did 44 years ago when Smith jumped over a press table to break up a fight between LSU's Wade Evans (far left) and Vanderbilt's Jan van Breda Kolff (not pictured). The fight ended when Collis Temple (far right) dropped van Breda Kolff with a flying karate kick.

They gathered in the Maravich Center loading dock corridor, away from the noise of the halftime show at Tuesday night's LSU basketball game.
There were handshakes and hugs and smiles and laughs and posing for pictures, things usually associated with championship team reunions.
However, this private gathering was an arranged absolution.
After all, who in the world would dare reunite parties involved in a huge on-court brawl near the end of a heated LSU vs. Vanderbilt matchup that took place 44 years ago?
"Vintage Dale Brown," said Collis Temple, the first African-American athlete to play basketball for LSU and one of the standouts on the first two of Brown's 25 Tigers' teams in his storied career.

So you have to say Collis was the first black player anytime you print his name?

Absolutely. Collis Temple, who was the first African American basketball player at LSU, insists on it.

If I’m Collis, i’m like: “Look, THIS is how I want to be remembered.”

So Kareem was not the only basketball player practicing martial arts in the early 70's? I agree with guy above, we need some video, dubbed with Kung-Fu Fighting.

I need some type of imagery of this fight. Video, gif, picture...something.

I bet Collis said "here comes the big boss" just prior to this...

I was present at that game while attending Law School. Dale and Collis were heroes of the roaring crowd in the then LSU Assembly Center. "The Hustlers!"

PS- Collis looked to be 15' in the air when his feet came down on Jan VBK's shoulders...
