wait you gonna blame stud for that game?
etling would not have made a shred of difference the way miles prepped the team for that game. he did the same shite he did the first game. major mistake #1 when playing saban.

How’d his offense do in 2010, 2011 (the scheduled game), 2012, 2013, and 2014?
Are you from a dimension where the offense was good in these games?

That said I think Jefferson would have down very well in the Canada offense.
Jordan Jefferson aint doin very well in any Offense; just doesn't have it mentally to succeed.
How so many on here still can't see and understand this is

Etling had 92 passing yards, generated 6 total first downs, and scored 0 points in a home game vs Bama last year. And some of you think he would have beaten Alabama's best defense of all time? Against a team that doesn't lose to immobile qb's especially ones that can barely throw the ball to receivers on his own team. He had 60 yards passing and scored zero points in the first half vs Troy and was benched for a true freshman. Our wr's caught one pass vs Florida and zero vs Ole Miss. He had 200 yards this Saturday - 120 of which were on either a ball that traveled backwards 5 yards to Darrell Williams or a busted coverage where no one was within 20 yards of Foster Moreau. You guys are the best. Never change

NO but Jarrett Lee could have

I don't know what else to say about it. Everybody keeps harping on him being tough and having heart, but can he actually pass effectively though? Can people please rewatch the Auburn game and see every catch Chark made? He either had to slow down, speed up, or snatch it from a DB's hands. People don't realize that Etling isn't really careful with the ball. The 1 int on the stat sheet doesn't tell the whole story. Without being a homer, you can clearly see multiple would be ints that were not because either the WR wrestled it away or the DBs had stone hands. We are just extremely lucky in that department. We won't have that luck in two weeks.
Troy is the only team in the top 60 in ints, that we have played all year. They are also the only team he threw an int against. Bama is ranked 7th claiming at least one int in every game.
This going to be 2011 Lee vs Bama all over again, although Lee was a better passer that year.

JJ won the first game. Let’s not forget his role

Don’t let the end skew it lee and Jefferson were both light years better than Etling. Those defenses were better. That team also faced a gauntlet. Lee was the top rated passer in the country until Bama.

We may have scored, but no way we beat bama on that night.
Posted on 10/24/17 at 11:11 am to Fat Bastard
Lots of denial in this thread the only more laughable than thinking Etling could have beaten that Bama team is the people that actually think Lee would have. If Lee plays the entire Nov game we lose.
If you want to play what ifs at least sub in a really good LSU QB like Bert Jones, Tommy Hodson or Jamarcus. Or Mauckbor Flynn maybe.
I agree with Fat Bastard about Miles offense, it's antiquated but short of an all time QB like Manziel or Watson it's unlikely any OC was winning that game. Give the devil his due that D was an all timer college d, as great as ours was theirs was as good or better and outside of WR our offensive talent that year was not really special, some good players but not elite across the board.

I agree. He did seem to struggle against bama although we almost won with him in 2008 and he threw a nice pass to close game out in 2010. I was just hoping we went down in flames by giving lee a shot after JJ failed in the natty. at least go down firing all ammo. instead Les stuck with JJ and we ran and punted in 4th quarter which was essentially quitting which is unacceptable against BAMA in a title game.
ETA: sorry i was thinking you were referencing natty game when you made it clear you were referencing november. my bad with which i agree with you.

That 2011 bama defense would have killed etling. nobody was beating bama in that game.
Posted on 10/24/17 at 11:25 am to Tiger Voodoo
JJ passer rating in 2011 was 138.7.
DE passer rating this year is 143.2
Just random statistics to fuel the debate.
Edit:
Jarrett Lee passer rating was 152 in 2011

This. Saban gets a second crack at you in the same season he's not going to lose again.

We would likely not have won that game with either ;however, Miles was too stubborn and hardheaded to try.
He preferred to continue to try was was obviously not working. His stubbornness and refusal to change assured the lost and ultimately dictated his fate at LSU.
Miles ,in essence, surrendered to Alabama when he decided to NOT TRY anything different.
