No they didn't.
They did what they thought was best for the program. Daniels can't dictate what LSU should do.
BTW, I either watched or read several opinions by the media and they think Daniels looks silly and got bad advice.

Jayden doesn’t own the number and LSU doesn’t owe him shite.
The guy got his check, moved on, and hasn’t done anything with the program since. Nothing wrong with that, both parties benefited but don’t come around butt hurt because LSU isn’t respecting your “legacy”
Could he feel disrespected? Sure but there’s 0 excuse for taking it to the level he has

You have Cannon and Burrow with Heisman trophies and there has never even been discussion about either of their jerseys numbers being worn again. It was just understood.
It's pretty easy to see where Daniels would take offense to what is happening here at LSU depending on how the discussions (if any even took place) occurred.
