have you been living under a rock? lots of people over a long period of time have lost money betting lsu against ole miss. they absolutely loathe us and the lsu game is their #1 game of the year; they play their hearts out. it is a buzz saw that our guys walk into every year. we approach the game like most other games and discover they are out for blood and we usually have to pull the game out late. i might still bet ole miss at the 7.

I would agree with this if they hadn't left their heart on the field Saturday vs A$M. I just don't think they have anything left.

I imagine this would be roughly 10 points if we played them at home, which is a pretty solid win.

well yeah.. cause home field always = 3 points..

I'd bet this if bet regularly.. and/or didn't care about money..

but I'd put about 50 percent confidence on us covering.
20 percent on the push
20 percent on winning but not covering
and 10 percent on the loss.

I assume the game will be much like the Florida game. Never really in doubt, but never pull away.

If we get in a shoutout, we have a loaded gun.

Ole Miss always plays LSU tough.. in Tiger Stadium.

Every game in the 2000s have either been a close LSU win or an Ole Miss win in Tiger Stadium.

More times than not LSU kicks Ole Miss' arse in Oxford. It's like they only get up for Tiger Stadium.

LSU should sling it around and roll.

1. Road game
2. At night
3. "Rivalry" game
4. History (OM always plays us well)
This is pretty much the answer. I agree with you DEG.

Miss St game was a 7 point spread and I took that big money and ran with it.

So I assume you're hurrying to place a bet, since you think the line isn't big enough

Because that is where Vegas thinks the line should be to balance the betting on both sides

Since 2005, the games in Oxford have gone:

Lsu 40-7
Lsu 41-24
OM 25-23 (clock it gate)
Lsu 52-3

So they usually play us much closer in Tiger Stadium it seems.

I've posted that in almost every thread since the summer, including this one, when someone freaks out over Ole Miss and how they played LSU close in Tiger Stadium. It doesn't matter. They always do. Then LSU whips them the next year in Oxford.

Could it be because when we play this game in Baton Rouge it's the last home game of the season and later than when we play in Oxford?

Don't know how they wouldn't. Ole Miss is banged up. Coming off a tough stretch of three straight losses in three weeks to Alabama, Auburn, and A&M. A&M was the only game of those three they had a chance in, Alabama beat them 25-0 and Auburn was up two scores most of the second half.

A) point spreads is a way for odds makers to mitigate risk, not a score (or score margin) prediction

B) Ole Miss always, well almost always, plays us close. 2011 was the exception, not the rule.

What about 2005 and 2007 as well? Look at my post above

Ole Miss D gave up almost 600 yards to A&M. I know they scored 38 but A&M D is the worse in the SEC.

I thought the spread was curious as well. Thinking about it I suspect it's a combination of a history of hard fought games and perhaps more significant, a good chance the injury reports are being "embellished" and may not be as dire as being reported. LSU cannot take this game lightly and I don't believe they will. With or without the OM injuries if LSU brings their A-Game, they will win convincingly but if not, could be uncomfortably closer.

Yea they're offense was shutout against Alabama, and struggled pretty badly against an average Auburn defense. I wouldn't expect too much from them against LSU.
