Yeah he was in a tough spot here. Even though he was a plus defensive outfielder, he could not hit as well as Crews Dugas or Pearson and Jobert had the power over him to be the DH.

He will probably make a solid player for someone especially if he can improve vs lefty pitching.

Thanks for being a Tiger Gio.

Awesome name. Was rooting for him for 2 years but just wasn’t an LSU caliber outfielder. Pearson is the truth

Man, really liked Gio, I thought he would figure it out and be a solid player the last 2 seasons. Sad to see him go, he is guy that’s really easy to pull for. Good luck to him.

Yes he was he did great his first 2 years. His problem was he didn’t hit for power. He was a plus outfielder because of his speed. He struck out too much and was injured when Jay was here. He can read between the lines and he knows it’s best to move on so he can play. Thanks Gio.for your dedication to LSU and good luck!

Damn, I really liked him. Could have saved quite a few runs in the OF this year.

Didn’t like having Stevenson out there instead in crunch time.

Damn, that sucks…one of my favorite Tigers of the last few years. Thanks for being a Tiger, Gio.

Yeah I think Johnson completely mis/under used him.

It’s like he doesn’t understand the benefit of speed either in the OF or especially the basepaths.

He was the second best on the team… I guess you like catchable balls dropping.

This only the beginning. Let the culling begin. Jay Johnson has to make room for the influx of talent LSU needs especially Pitchers.

LSU’s pitching staff was outclassed (and it wasn’t even close) by Southern Mississippi. Think about that.

I understood Dugas over Gio.

Even Jobert over Gio.

Didn’t understand Stevenson over Gio.

Very good defensive center fielder; hope his bat comes alive wherever he goes.

Stevenson put together better at bats and was at least equally as good defensively as gio

Probably would have been fine a decade ago but we started playing gorilla ball again…

Um no. We thought he would be, mainly because of his brother, but he looked lost out there. It doesn’t look like he has the blazing speed of a Gio or Andrew to make up for late reads.

He has plenty enough speed. The reads were more the issue. He also was playing a different position than he has probably played his whole life. Some guys just get really comfortable and used to reading the ball off the bat from the CF position. I understand LF is the easiest OF position to play, but for a CF it may take a little while to get used to the reads off the bat. Especially some of those sinking line drives that dropped in front of him.

Speed wise coming into LSU, perfect game had Josh and Andrew both running a 6.68 60 and Gio with a 6.45. So yea, Gio is faster but when talking about making up fround in the OF it isn't that much faster to make a difference. Stevenson will be just fine on defense in the future.

How do we know Stevenson isn’t going as well?

Stevenson going to the transfer portal?

Very unlikely. Gio and Stevenson are in completely different scenarios at this point in their careers.

You are basing this off one game. He was good defensively in fall and spring practices and early season play in the outfield. He will be really good defensively before he leaves
