Kinda early in the year to say whether or not he will earned/has earned #7 but i think it should have been given to an original signee. I sure wouldn't mind seeing #7 on Brossette .. it's all good though. Giles may end up being a beast once he gets on same page with #9.

I think he is a good polished somewhat elusive receiver but does not have the talent that Jefferson chase and Marshall have. If he wasn't a grad transfer, I believe he would be the #4 receiver after those three.

I think Giles will play a big role at some point this year, but I still don’t think a transfer should have been given 7 before ever playing a snap in purple and gold. He wasn’t a transcendent signing like LF was when he got it.

I’ve always thought it should have gone to DW or Greedy.

Those guys are playmakers, and seeing another 7 LB like Ali or Trev would have been awesome imo.

So after one game where we threw the ball like twice in the 2nd half he has no shot to be a top WR?

This.

He could be our leading receiver in 5 plays. He looks the part

So after giving my wife the annual State of LSU Football address, she asked me, “So why isn’t Devin White #7?”

What do you think he has to do to “earn” the number 7? Same question for Cam...

Now tell me what you expect him to do this year. (I didn’t say I thought he was a bad player, I actually hope he has an outstanding year)

Truth is we should suspend the 7 shite until we prove to have an elite player on a championship level team.

I’m ok if 18 goes away too

The Number thing is nothing but a Divisive distraction. At least 18 is a leadership award, although that one is stupid too. You won’t see an OL with 18.

7 is a made up give it to one of my boys thing by PP and TM7
18 was Mauck telling Stringfellow to give it to Hester, who did the same thing to Dickson. Talk to former players....,Dickson was not a leader

It somehow morphed into this big deal for millennial frat fan boys.

I still think Jefferson will be the top guy, but I believe Giles will be right there with him. Once we start opening up the pass game hitting guys like Jefferson, Anderson, and Marshall deep, it'll push the safeties back, and he can catch those slants and turn up field with the quickness. We really need to get the RPOs up and running this game. I think guys like Giles and Chase will eat up chunks of yardage on those.

#7 wasn't really a thing until recently. Yeah some greats in the past wore it, but people forget how much we used to suck.

Some walkons and no name skill players wore it before Highsmith and Peterson.

I think Giles will do well with YAC, but after seeing Jefferson’s speed on display last week as he accelerated across the middle of the field I was impressed. Doesn’t hurt that he was the guy running routes for the QB every morning when it was just them two working on timing.
Giles will get to display his speed and illusuveness soon enough and we’ll see what he’s got. Looking forward to it.

Agreed. Giles has the talent and will be showing it soon. Don’t judge him by the first game

Marshall has great size and speed, but I'm a little concerned about his hands. He supposedly had 3 drops in the final scrimmage and dropped an easy one against Miami. Probably just freshman mistakes that will resolve as he gets more comfortable, but right now, from the little I've seen, I trust Justin Jefferson, Jon Giles, Dee Anderson, Jamar Chase, and Stephen Sullivan the most and in that order.
