yeah, but Auburn is pretty consistent up there in regards to recruiting and team strength/Draft etc... they really need to balance the conference more. Tenn could help that but it may take pruitt a while, id say he is on the right track though.. LSU/Bama/TAMU isnt going anywhere... Florida/Georgia isnt going anywhere... They need Auburn in the east to balance it... Tenn is much like our Miss St now... Kentucky will go back down when someone hires Stoops away... Vandy will never be good... Missouri is geographically in the west, long ways to South Carolina and Gainsville..
no need to adjust - it's all cyclical.

In the 80s, it was UGA and Auburn.

In the 90s, the East was stronger, with Florida and Tennessee.

In the 2000s, it was a little more balanced, with Florida, LSU, and UGA.

In the 2010s, the West have clearly been stronger, with Bama being dominant, but the East is now getting much stronger with UGA leading the way, and Florida moving up.

No need to realign, unless you want to do it every decade once the balance of power shifts, and it will inevitably do.

I can see both sides of the argument. Subtle realignment every 10 years would be an interesting angle to mix things up though.

Alabama often has young position groups that show susceptibility early in the season. This year it was their secondary. Granted, so do we, but it varies year to year.

And Clemson still torched the Saban secondary.

Bottom line we need to start exploiting the tiny weekness each year vs Alabama. STEVE E and his two man routes were not striking any fear in those DBs.

I think it’s the whole not giving Bama an extra week to prepare for us because they are harder to beat in those situations... unless you are Clemson

I guess I'm wondering what changes if both teams only have one week. Each team still has the same amount of time to prepare.

#1 Our coaches aren't as good, so 2 weeks is a disadvantage
#2 I would rather rest for a more winnable like Florida

And yes I know we get the same extra time as they do - I get the feeling that people think Bama does more with the extra time than LSU does.

Bingo. That's where coaching liability comes in.

That liability wont change with 1 day, 1 week or 2 weeks. Beginning , middle or end of season.

All I see on the Rant is Saban prepares for this game like no other.

We move the game up, Bama will schedule a LSOP and still get 2 weeks to prepare.

No, it's a big divisional game that helps determine the champ. Keep it late in the season.

I look at it as a discrepancy, which increases over time. Moderate discrepancy with 1 week to prepare turns into significant discrepancy by adding a 2nd week.

I’d like for LSU to find a way to play Alabama the week after they play LSU. Seems to work well for others.

Nick Saban‘s teams usually get better and better as the season progresses. The other thing about playing them after a bye week is that it gives Nick Saban more time to prepare for your game. When you give him time the odds are against you. For these reasons I would like to see the game moved up as well

I have no problem playing them in November. I just wished we used our open date at a different time. Play someone the week before Alabama. SEC game or OOC. Don't care.

You neglected to opine how that in any way benefits us. Change for the sake of change is not good policy.

Yes, but the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Would you say we have something to lose by switching it up? We're on an 8 game losing streak to them, so why not try something different?

Don’t see any advantage for us. Bet Saban would rather play it early as opposed to the LSU, MSU, Aub games before the SEC / playoffs .......since they are regular participants

I vote that unless the Bama alumnus/Commish Stanky is fired and commish office moved to neutral state that LSU suceed from the SEC and go it alone like ND.....

And we fire Alexander and roll in Mike VII into the real Death Valley and let him roar his arse off in a double wide plexiglass cage......

Put on a pre game show that ESPN would have to televise and put ND to shame....

I disagree. He knows they are more vulnerable earlier in the season. IE- Ole Miss losses.

And throw in a new conflict-of-interest rule that SEC alumni are not allowed to work for the SEC office. Drain the swamp.
