Stop making bama special in the players eyes. Treat them just like everyone else schedule them in September. Stop giving them any more power than they already have.

you don’t get bama at their best in the start of the year. that’s why ole miss beat em twice a few years back

We currently play them in this awkward spot, where we have an almost complete season to hype up the game and a entire two-week build up, but then we still have enough games left to play to derail our season.

Yeah, I say move it and let’s focus on winning as many games as possible- not just the Bama game.

Seems like we always come out swinging early in the year...always sluggish by Bama time, even after the bye.

Time for a change. What would it take for this game to be scheduled earlier in the year, before bye weeks for both teams?

I wish people would stop saying this. It won’t give us any kind of advantage over Bama. It’s Nick Saban and he would still have his team ready to play against LSU

Giving Saban two weeks to prepare is usually a loss that's why moving it up matters

I guess I'm wondering what changes if both teams only have one week. Each team still has the same amount of time to prepare

I'd like to see our bye week moved to not right before Bama every year

Since we lose to them every year:

Take the L earlier
Use the bye week before another good team and give us an edge.

It’s dumb to use the bye week on an L every year.

So we're now so scared of Bama that we blame the place on the schedule and the bye weeks?

That's so sad and pitiful. If we had played Alabama in the first game last year, they would have still kicked our butts. No bye week before our game with them? They still would have won, without question.

It's beyond embarrassing that LSU fans are trying to run and hide from the mighty Tide. This thread is shameful. Maybe we can change the Ole Miss and Arkansas games because we're scared of them, too.

Under the CFP system, it doesn't matter at all whether you lose early or late. Bama lost their last regular season game in 2017, made the playoff, and won the national championship.

I'm just saying stop treating them special. Make them just another game on the schedule.

We have two weeks to game plan against their defense every year. And, still, we fail to score. So for that, I don't think playing them earlier and not after a bye makes a difference. I'd be ok with it.

Defensively, I know it has to be easier for Aranda having an extra week to study the individual defenders' tendencies... but still everybody knows pretty much exactly what Alabama is going to throw at you. The trick is, just stopping them. The bye week hasn't helped us with that, either.

We are usually the first team to actually stand toe to toe with the crimson monster every year and punch them in the mouth, even though ultimately we still lose... but I don't think we'd play them any less hungry or motivated if we played them the week following a rent-a-win cupcake.

For those reasons and in my opinion, I can get behind this idea. See how well N$ does against LSU when he hasn't had 2 weeks to prepare for us.

Three things: 1) Saban won't use his bye in Sept or early Oct, thus, he won't have two weeks to prep his defense. And nobody can deny that the mutual byes have been favoring them.
2) Alabama often has young position groups that show susceptibility early in the season. This year it was their secondary. Granted, so do we, but it varies year to year.
3) In years we lose, early season losses are easier to recover from.

I totally agree with this^^^^

They really do seem more vulnerable at the beginning of the season, and I have come to the conclusion that the mutual byes the week before they play only helps Alabama. The bye week sure doesn't appear to help LSU at all.

Yes, or Alabama having to play on the Friday after Thanksgiving, like LSU had to do for years.

I like the fact that we get a week to heal and prepare. That they do as well is not a good reason for change.

It hasn't helped playing them late I'm the season for the past 7 years so...

I don't disagree with you at all, Ben. In fact, I agree.

But when Orgeron was named head coach at LSU, he mentioned that they had to beat Alabama.

At SEC media days, he said Bama was the benchmark, and LSU had to best them.

On Marty & Magee, they asked Orgeron what LSU fans were saying to him. He said they were telling him, "We love you, coach O. We believe in you. You gotta beat Alabama," and then he had that big laugh..

Before the game this year, he said they couldn't make the game "bigger than life, so the players can't handle it." The very next statement he made was how important the game was to the state of Louisiana, and how it was THE game. He just isn't smart enough to understand that he just DID make it larger than life.

Alabama faces the very same thing LSU faces for this game every year. Same spot on the schedule, same bye week. Identical. It's the coaches and players who make the difference. It's not the spot on the schedule or bye. First game, last game, bye week, no bye week, they still would have beaten us.

Yep. Then, after this year's loss he tried top push the narrative that no one can beat them, they are just too good. Then they got SMASHED by Clemson. Then, Orgeron fans said it's all because Trevor Lawrence ...and we dont have a guy like that. However, they are the first to say how proud they are that o went and got burrow.

When was the last time bama went undefeated? Lawrence? What about stidham, or the 3 star guy that went to ole miss? A time for excuses had ended.
