I’m for it.

If not, here is a different scenario. Incorporate an away Thursday game before Alabama. but you must take the bye week BEFORE that Thursday game.

Looks like this, it involves 5 specific dates in a 4 week period.

Example
Oct 5. Vs UF
Oct 12. Bye week.
Oct 17. Thursday game at MSU
Oct 19. Sat off due to thurs game but no bye
Oct 26. Alabama.

It worked very well with our 2008 and 2011 seasons early in the season. Look at the results there.

It is very hard to accomplish this due to teams wanting g to play on Thursday. But it’s like getting an extra week off.

Ads and SIDS know this. Or they should.

Agree. It helps take the emphasis off the game.

I know two VERY astute Bama fans, not the 'homer' types, and they are VERY thankful their sched is set up like it is where they play LSU, Miss St and Aub in the back 1/3 of the season. Gives Saban time to get the young guys comfortable in their roles, all playing together; and after a bye where they can get healthy for the final push. Don't see them wanting to change a thing.

Of course.

breaks the tradition of an annual bama beat down on the first Saturday in November.

Getting Bama game moved up on schedule by Jack Crevalle

I don't think the game needs to be moved. However, I would love the BYE week moved! Seems the bye week has more of a negative impact on the coaches/game plan than resting of players!

Bama plays Auburn in November. I think they come out behind in your scenario.

you guys are REALLY stretching to look for reasons, when the real reason is they're just better than us - better players, better coaches, better gameplan, etc.

The bye week doesn't negatively impact the result.

this is just so silly. We're not going to treat Bama like everyone else. They're the best team in the conference and winning the SEC West goes through them, so they'll always be the biggest game on our schedule for the foreseeable future.

I'm not REALLY making any stretch.

I'm giving my observation and opinion!

I agree

The extra week feels like a psych out for the coaches. Over thinking the game plan

Go all the way back to 2011, what offensive game plan was great???? 2013? The extra week has not benefitted the game plan one bit and has been laughable at times.

I'm not sure why the bye week HAS TO BE before bama. Would it be out of the realm of possibility to move it up 1 more week and have a tune up game before? Only over the past 9-10 years did the bye week HAVE TO BE before bama and now people like you think it would be ridiculous to move it.

Just pointing out the over emphasis of HAVING TO HAVE it the week before bama. I think it has not benefitted LSU like some think.

Didn't we have a bye before we played Bama in 2011? I believe Saban adjusted his bye week after we tapped that arse in Tuscaloosa

CBS has got to be growing tired of the LSU-Bama prime time game.

Then they should stop scheduling it. They get their pick for the prime time game, and every year they pick LSU-Bama. Regardless of how much LSU has "slid" since 2011, it's still seen as one of the premier match-ups at the beginning of every season. For now.

I agree. The timing of this game isn't an excuse for getting beat every year. But that doesn't mean moving it up wouldn't be beneficial to LSU.

permanent east opponent is stupid, both games should rotate to play all teams in the east... And Auburn should really switch to the east and move Missouri to the West.... It balances the conference..

This is an interesting topic. Balance of power will never be a constant though since different teams get better or worse each year.

Yep. But week off hasn’t worked since.

You can still get extra two days rest before Bama and not get rusty by playing a Thursday MSU game. It may be the prefect compromise between week off and no week off.

It actually gives you two bye dates if you run it right.

But au will compete for titles and mizz will never win the SEC outright.

Also, if mizz wins the east again, I want to play them in Atlanta.

yeah, but Auburn is pretty consistent up there in regards to recruiting and team strength/Draft etc... they really need to balance the conference more. Tenn could help that but it may take pruitt a while, id say he is on the right track though.. LSU/Bama/TAMU isnt going anywhere... Florida/Georgia isnt going anywhere... They need Auburn in the east to balance it... Tenn is much like our Miss St now... Kentucky will go back down when someone hires Stoops away... Vandy will never be good... Missouri is geographically in the west, long ways to South Carolina and Gainsville..

You have some valid points. But as long as Bama is winning conference championships, the SEC could probably give a shite less about moving 2 teams to create a balance of power.

As long as the person in the SEC office overseeing scheduling is a Bama grad, there is no sense in any talking about significant changes in scheduling, whether it be moving up our game against Bama, or moving our bye week followed by a “tune-up” game, or a change in the permanent crossover opponent. I think the latter would only occur if Tennessee became a power and beat the crap out of Bama three or four years in a row, both home and away. Then you would see a clamoring for a straight rotation with teams in the other division, as it should be. Of course, the chances of that happening in our lifetimes is slim to none, and Slim left town already.
