Not really

We've always had crowds in excess of capacity. The difference was mainly standing room only. For the first time ever, we have a designated area for SRO.

The old capacity was 92,542. The largest crowd was 93,374. The new capacity is 102,321. I don't think 105,000 is in any way a stretch. And the new SRO space will be the key to reaching that attendance.

I had heard that they won't close up the north side because it won't allow enough sunlight for the grass field. Not sure how true that is though.

This makes no sense because in the late summer and fall the sun stays lower in the southern sky. This was talked about when they were planning on expanding the south. The south will block the sun later in the year. You're mixing things up.

The north being expanded will have no impact on the amount of sunlight that reaches the field.

If you think they are adding an additional 7k in sro

Where did I say 7k, and why do you think 7k in SRO would be necessary to reach 105,000?

We've already squeezed in 832 fans over our old max capacity. We'd only need to squeeze in an additional 1,847 fans beyond that to reach 105,000.

Sounds like a lock to me.

TS is simply beautiful. Has been since I first saw it in the late 60's and it was last weekend from I-10.

And it used to be my home (239 SS). My kids still get a kick when I tell'em dad used to live in TS!

That's all fine and dandy to but have the largest attendance they have to go over 110k.

Sorry boys, but that hodge podge, bric-a-brac design looks like crap. It's still one of the greatest places on earth to watch a football game, but aesthetically it's a freak show.

Are you not aware of the capacity of the largest stadiums or something?

I'm aware of the ones in the SEC...this was always about the largest in the SEC.

Edit: From the OP...

We'll be neck and neck with Kyle Field this year. And ahead of Kyle Field next year, when they downsize to add more premium seating.

...and I stand by that.

Take a look at the top of the SEZ addition...

Whoever built the Huey P. Long bridge in NO must have helped out with the SEZ expansion. The new addition on the east side end does not line up with the existing end of the east upper deck. Looks like it sticks out a few feet. The new addition on the west side end lines up better but even that is not spot on. Guess it is OK for government work.

Lot's of OCD people need to avoid the view from directly above. It's one of the most asymmetric stadiums out there... and only getting more so.

I only ever mentioned Kyle Field, because that stadium will be our only real competitor in the conference going forward. Both BDS and Neyland are maxed out...unless UT gets creative with paint again. I never once talked about nationally...but I edited the OP to make that clearer.
