First defensive player to win the Heisman.
Burrow and Tua might be on outside looking in.
I would be happy for Burrow to get an invite at least.

A defensive player isn't winning the Heisman, its not gonna happen. Its pretty much Burrow's to lose right now. He just has to have a solid game at Bama and either win or lose a close one.

He probably is the best player in the country but he’s not winning the Heisman.

Any other year I would say possibly, but you have 3 legit contenders with Tua, Burrow and Hurts. I do expect young to declare and become the first non-QB picked in the 2020 draft.

This is what the media does when they are bored of the same heisman candidates week after week. At the end of the day we all know it will be a qb.

Charles Woodson had some offensive touches, but he won the Heisman because of his defensive prowess...

Get ready is right.
The Big 10 media are very good at hyping their players for the Heisman and they have latched on to Young.
I've seen this act before with Desmond Howard.

if honey badger didn’t do enough with one of the best defensive seasons ever then young shouldn’t win it either. tyrann was doing all that on defense AND taking punts back to the house

He won the Heisman because he went to Michigan. If he had gone to Florida or LSU, he wouldn’t have won.

I think the hype around him is more to make sure he gets an invite to NY, which he deserves. I doubt a lot of these people actually think he can win it.

Take chase young off Ohio state and they’re undefeated. He’s an absolute monster but the MV stand for Most Valuable which is what the heisman is essentially. People complain about QB winning it but they’re the least replaceable position by a large margin. At least when Suh was at Nebraska they legitimately won games entirely because of him.

We need to build up and establish a defensive heisman equivalent.

1 player has won it on defense. Suh, Mathieu, and Teo (purely on the back of the fake GF story) weren’t enough to get it done. Woodson only won it because he played special teams as well. No way Young wins it over an offensive player.

Woodson was a difference maker in all 3 phases. He played DB, WR and PR. A DE ain't winning the Heisman.
