1997 #1 Florida vs LSU

Florida was the Bama of today. They were skull dragging people.
The stadium was electric, the greatest runningback in the history of LSU was in the backfield, Herb Tyler was running the option, Donaldson was returning INTs and the fans took the place down.

No. 1 Florida vs LSU hightlights

Was it better than 07 Florida though? Serious question. I was at 07 but not 97. 07 Florida is definitely the best game I’ve ever been to

2007 UF @ LSU is the best college football game I ever attended.

I had tickets to 1997 and didn't go. Watched on TV.

Was at both, both were great, '97 will always be my best Death Valley experience. 13 in '97 23 in '07.

Personally I was in high school in ‘97, I was at both games, but I was probably more passionate about LSU in ‘07. Regardless ‘97 was better. We had sucked and been bent over for so long, by the gators, it made it that much more special.

I was at both and for me, 07 is still the best. Even though LSU was ranked in the top 15 going into the 97 game, there was very little expectation they would even keep the game close, let alone win. The week before it took a blocked extra point for LSU to be a weak Vanderbilt team 7-6. Also, Cecil Collins broke his leg vs. Vandy and whatever hope LSU had seemed to be lost.

Florida was coming of a national championship and had just spent the last 5+ years completely dominating the SEC. I'll always remember the 97 game as one that went from little expectation, to rising hope, to concern that LSU wasn't going to be able to hang on, to complete jubilation when they did. That also represented the apex of the Dinardo era. The week later LSU lost to Ole Miss and the program went downhill once more.

2007 was a different feel. Everyone knew it was a HUGE game going into it and neither team expected to lose. It was also a (then) unheard of CBS night game. It was also a VERY warm and humid October night. The moment I will always remember was LSU scoring a TD to cut UF's lead. The crowd was going nuts. Then, in the commercial break following the TD Borne announced the Stanford/USC score and EVERYONE went berzerk. Fans, the players, everyone. It was the most surreal moment I've ever experienced in TS because everyone knew then that an LSU win would make them the undisputed #1 team in the country (UF then promptly scored a long TD on a busted assignment to briefly end the excitement)

The 4th quarter of that game was absolutely nerve racking. It remains the only game where no one in my section (East sideline) sat down for an entire half. Young, old, it didn't matter. It's still the only game I've ever left feeling absolutely mentally and physically exhausted from simply watching a football game.

Could easily make an argument for it.

I might call it the "most exciting" if not "the best." Although, Georgia 2003 May better fit both.

I was in 8th grade and brought my friend to his first LSU game that day. 2007 was his next game ever. He is now known as the Florida killer.

God I miss Ron Franklin calling ESPN games. Stupid PC female sideline reporter got her panties in a wad over one mistake comment he made and he's been in announcer purgatory ever since. Probably retired by now I would imagine.

ETA: It was that wildebeest Holly Rowe. Go figure

Give me 2007 over 1997, but it's close.

2007 with the comeback and the program expectations give it a nod over 1997 where we never trailed and were massive underdogs.

Hard to blame anyone for taking 1997 though.

Was more than one incident. He was a condescending prick from what I've read.

Condescending prick or tired of dealing with female sideline reporters who are in it for the fame and exposure but almost always add nothing of value from an analysis perspective because its a game they never played?

Besides, he was the best. I don't care how he acted off screen.
