Was a great game. In the 9th, Texas got the lead off guy on. Then the center fielder dropped a fly-out. Should have been two-on no-outs, but they tried to take 3rd on the error and got gunned. Texas ended game with men on 2nd and 3rd.

Since OSU beat Texas twice we will pass Texas in the RPI rankings

How we go from not hosting a regional Wed. to talking bout hosting a super regional on Sat.

I'm not a college baseball RPI or SOS guy, but seems we must have had a good shot at a regional host spot prior to the tourney or we would have little shot at a super regional now.

LSU was like 20-6 coming into the SEC tourney if I recall correctly. I hardly think that equates to "playing terrible" 10 games before the tourney.

Does a virginia loss help? Then we would be playing the number 1 rpi team tomorrow in uf...

Bottom 7 - Virginia batting with 1 out vs fsu

LSU could not afford to go 0-2 in Hoover. A couple of wins would have been a regional host spot, more than likely. But the difference between the next 12-14 after the top 5-6 was negligible heading into the conference tournaments. A strong finish is often a valuable "tiebreaker" and LSU is having a huge final kick.

Its all relative to the other teams. Basically 7-18 were really close together. Some on here seemed to have us around 14-18 range coming into the week me included.

It could be entirely possible that we were playing well coming in but not quite passed some of these teams. We have looked even more impressive this week against even better teams than Auburn and NWSt.

That coupled with the right teams losing multiple games have given us a shot.

A little. Not sure if that would move Florida to RPI #1, but Florida State has played like 6 games against SEC schools, particularly Florida, so it's better for the SEC RPI for Florida State to win. Again, both Florida State and Virginia are locks for national seeds, so it doesn't matter much from that standpoint, but it could help LSU a little by boosting Florida's RPI.

SOOOO, it's down to tomorrow! If LSU beats Florida and USM beats Rice, LSU should be inside the top 8 in RPI!

Well, jmath, you got it! The win did bump Florida to #1 in RPI!

The bad news: USM is down 0-4 in the 8th. Shouldn't matter much, but it would have been best for USM to be the one to beat Rice tomorrow.

Can't have everything go our way. Southern Miss and Southeastern helped LSU out a lot
