Is the LSU/Alabama game the "game of the century?" LINK

Well, we're only 11 years into the century, so we don't have alot of competition.

It's definitely the game of the decade.

There are roughly 120 teams in ncaa
120 x's 12 games played (avg) x's 100 years =
144,000 regular season games played in the century.
This one game, 15,840 games in.....i doubt it.

It is the biggest regular season game in the BCS era.

Your numbers are wrong. You forgot that only half of the teams play a unique game every week. Divide your numbers in half and you'll be closer.

I think it is the most anticipated regular season game since FSU/UF in 96. I guess tOSU/UM game in 06 has to be mentioned though.

Bama fans still think their 2009 game against Florida is bigger.

I don't know if there has ever been two teams, same conference (let alone same division), that are this dominant, going against eachother in the regular season in the modern era.
OSU/Mich was good, but I don't think they were this dominant, could be wrong
ETA: #1 and #2 of course

Not so sure about the century, but I would guess that most loyal Tiger fans know it's a defining game this year. The implications of a victory could spell national championship. That's big enough for me.

Even that game didn't have the same amount of hyoe as this one does. Since week 1, everyone has pretty much bought into LSU and Alabama being the top two teams, and even people away from the SEC have called it the National Championship game. It's received more hype than Florida - Alabama SEC championship game a couple of years ago, and that decided who would played for the National Championship.
It's probably the most highly anticipated regular season game since Notre Dame - Florida St in '93.

Of course they would say that. But it's the first time in history a #1 and a #2 team have played each other in a regular season game.
This one is going into the history books. As a win for the P&G!

the point I have been trying to make. Some gump called in this morning and tried to say the 71 Auburn/Bama game was bigger since they were both undefeated.

no they are not. Every game has potential of being game of the century. Certain factors, however, preclude said teams from acquiring that status i.e. bad record, poor ranking, etc...
Also, what is a "unique" game?

Anybody got a complete list of times #1 and #2 faced off during the regular season?
