1. The amount of penalties and mistakes by seasoned veterans is an excusable.

2. What would make our WR think he could make his hand into simulated gun point it at the defensive player which resulted in a 15 yard penalty

3. There’s no leadership on this team. When your best player and team captain is offsides three times there’s an issue.

4. Daniel wasn’t worth the money to pull him out of the portal from liberty We should’ve spent that money on defense.

5. The coaching staff is afraid to let us throw a deep threat.

6. Mason Taylor is only blocking tight and we have on the team. Second year in a row that None of our transfer portal players did anything.

7. None of our receivers and running backs were able to Break loose after the initial tackler hit them.

8. CBK is a good 10 win Coach. With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, I don’t see him winning a championship at LSU.

Who? Burns? Definitely not your best player by any means

It’s been one game.

Nuss never challenged USC deep. The routes were there.

Gio Paez had a great game at DL.

Most teams don’t even use TEs as inline blockers anymore. It’s a dying breed.

That’s a testament to USC’s tackling ability, give them credit

Not really

Anderson is a portal
Player and he looked good

Suggs on the D line looked really good when he played

I believe he’s talking about Campbell. And it was offsides twice by my count

I was a big BK supporter. I loved the hire. But I’m thinking this is correct.

It’s tough.

I think BK was a good hire, maybe the best possible at the time. Especially as I guy who could stop the free fall and stabilize the program.

I just don’t think he can take the next step and get us to championship level

I feel much better about the defensive front this year going forward. We played a ton of DL. Moss hit some incredibly tight window throws where defense was actually pretty good. The secondary looks better coached at technique. This game should have been won. Officiating helped them, but many of our penalties were legit and self inflicted. Running game was pitiful. A lot of this is due to the lack of creativity in the blocking scheme or mixing in jet sweeps, occasional qb keepers. The coaching should have stayed with a heavy passing attack in the second half. I’m assuming Kelly was the genius behind trying to force the run.

Here’s my biggest observation. We ran the exact same RPO offense out of the shotgun formation that we did last year with Daniels.

Daniels would read the DE’s and Safeties. If they were cheating and coming inside (DE’s) or coming up to the LOS (Safeties) he’d make them pay by faking to the RB and throwing over the top, or faking to the RB, and riun wide himself.

Well…. Nuss never ran wide and rarely, if ever, threw over the top. That meant that USC’s DE’s never had to protect the edge and they crushed to the inside almost every single play and the safeties cheated up to the LOS almost every play. This caused a mismatch on our O-line in numbers in the box and made running the ball very difficult.

Why the coaching staff did not alter the offense over the Spring to emphasize Nuss’s strengths (arm strength in getting the ball deep and on 15 yard corner routes) and minimize his weakness (running the ball) I’ll never know. There was literally no play action. Nuss would be perfect in that scenario.

The offensive philosophy with Nuss’s skill set, set up our O-line for failure on running plays as USC was allowed to stack the box. Very reminiscent of a Les Miles offense without the toss dive.

Campbell is catching the heat for this but this is on coaching & preparation. Campbell obviously told Nuss he couldn't hear the snap count on the second false start. Why wasn't the offense prepared to use a silent snap count? Did they prep like they where they playing at Tiger Stadium & not a neutral site with a large delegation of opposing fans?

A couple positives:

- Stamps had a couple really nice PBUs.

- 3:26 in the 1st quarter -- watch #72.

Did Reliford make it in for any play from the line of scrimmage?

1. Kick the FG on 1st Drive

2. If you're going to run on 41h 1 and have been getting stuffed inside all game spread the field to get defenders out of the box and run behind right or left tackle or call qb read option.

3. Overall find new short yardage run plays and formations. Several times we got stuffed inside on short yardage. Wasn't there all night and coaches should have adjusted to different formations or plays. Or just call roll out qb options with receivers in the flat coached to go beyond the down marker on their routes.

Coaches inability to adjust to what was happening on the field is inexusable for the $$$ they are getting paid.
