Every player on Defense looked like they were never taught fundamental tackling. What was the stat LSU ran up for missed tackles?

Giles? Ha Ha This clown has to benched. He's detrimental every time he's near the ball. Highlight of the game for LSU - he dropped his #7.

Very solid points you make. I too was at the game and in great seats. The Ol played horribly. I also don’t want understand why we are rotating the RB’s so much. I think Brosette could have won the game if he was given a chance to get into a groove.

I was in the shade but from past experience, standing in the sun all day in the Swamp is a miserable experience. I think it contributed to the mental errors.

also, still don't like the play calling. don't care what offensive line excuse you want to make. routes short of the sticks on 3rd down, often times not even throwing it deep when you could possibly pick up a PI for first.. and the old run, run, pass punt at times.. it was frustrating..

You’ll have to be more specific.

The OL wasn’t an excuse. For me to use that as a excuse I would have to say that the play calling was conservative in the first place, I don’t think my point was that tough to understand.

it amazes me O went for it on 4th in a game in our own territory this year, but he wouldn't go for it there??

Game flow & time in game will always be the big factors. When points look hard to come by, and you have a great FG kicker, you take the 3. The decision isn’t always the same just because it is 4/1. That is stupid to think that way

Great analysis Lester Earl. I agree absolutely with the offensive play calling. I thought it wasn’t bad except I also hated the 2 second and long runs. Penalties killed our drives and I thought they were more physical than us. Defense wasn’t bad but their last 2 TD drives were way too easy for them. My other criticism of the D goes to physicality. The whole game it seemed we were constantly getting dragged for 2-3+ yards after contact. On the whole no reason to give up on the season and all fixable issues and this team has great potential. I have always thought the O would be much better in the 2nd half of the season. A game like this may help them. I think we really missed Jacob Phillips and Brumfield more than we thought.

If you’re going to crush the play calling at least rewatch the game & realize how many plays were foiled by our OL. You have to separate that from the plays that are called.

This is horrible logic.

If your OL is struggling, you don't continue to run slow-developing pass plays.

If The Citadel is playing Bama and runs 7-step drops all game, and gets sacked 30 times because they are out-matched, no one would say "Well, the play calling was good, but our OL just couldn't handle their DL."

how did kirklin nearly muff it when he didn't even try to catch it?

He let it hit the ground then picked it up when it bounced into him

If you’re not gonna catch it you need to gtfo the way

That being said unless the ball is punted in the red zone you have to catch the ball. Football 101

That being said, a lot of people are complaining about the play calling. I had beef with the play calling only twice this game, it stemmed from 1st & 2nd & long runs on back to back.

That was an issue for me, but taking Brosette out after he ran for 74 yards and a TD on the drive before was completely asinine. Now, it was a lot of great blocking on those runs, but you put him back in and run him or set them up for a perfect play action for a big one.

I also don't like White coming out on defense at all. Screw the rotation. On the road against a talented team, you leave him in.

Great notes LE. After rewatching the game I agree with pretty much all of your observations. This was a close game and these types of games always seem to turn on untimely penalties and turnovers, just as this one did. It happens. I also think that Florida was just a tad bit more inspired and were more desperate than we were. The home field advantage was a factor as well.

They weren’t slow developing, they were just that poorly blocked.

I can think of 3 longer plays to Jefferson that were successful or should have been

They hit him for 39yds on first drive

He dropped a possible 55yd td down the left sideline in the 2Q.At worst it’s a 30yd catch

He drew a PI in the 3Q on a long play.

As much pressure as they got there was reason to believe we could hit a play deep.

Even with that said, Giles caught 2 screen type passes, Jefferson 2, Brossette 1 & attempted another, & Moreau 1. They were doing exactly what you said, check the tape.

i'll take my chances with him back there over giles, giles is slow as shite

If he had the speed of former return men like Tre white, TM7, PP, OBJ, etc he'd have broken 2 for big gains yesterday

Kirklin is way faster than Giles

I wish they would try Delpit back there. He seems to have good hands, great quickness and great instincts.

Lack of execution due to drops and mental mistakes is on the players.

You can’t blame that on the coaching anymore. We are more well coached compared to the last regime. The players have to meet the staff half way and start stepping up and making the tough plays needed to win close games in this league.

Lol, excuses for Orgeron keep rolling.

I had several issues with the play calling. Mainly it just being way too predictable. Several drives were run run pass with no variation. The Burrow keeper I thought was one of the best dialed up plays all night. I wish we would have ran it a few more times.

because it has already been discussed. we did some good things on first scripted drive.

They were daring us to run between tackles. We couldn’t do it other than long brossette run. Early on we had success throwing short and running outside. Florida countered by squatting on short routes and playing up and fast on outside taking all that away. We could not throw over the top to counter or make them
Pay between tackles other than nicks run when it mattered.
