the problem with that is you have to get evans warm in time to pull Noot or Shores after 1 batter

Cowan, Shores, or Cooper Williams. I want Evans starting a game.

The first baserunner they allow with the score still a 1 run advantage, and you pull them for Evans.
Would be great to keep Evans off the mound in case you need him later.
If you are going to warm Evans up to be ready for any batter... you might as well use him.

I know who it definitely wouldn't be... Shores. If we see Shores again, it will be a wholestaff game around the 4th inning with the shortest of leashes
Yeah, you are wrong about that.
In any non save situation, he’s either thee first or second arm coming in.

Why take him out in that situation? I imagine his pitch count would be below average.
No guarantee his pitch count would be low. But to answer the question, you’d make the move for the same reason you always make the move…his effectiveness is wearing off.
Obviously you wouldn’t remove a guy who is still being effective.

If its 2-1, and no other info given he's staying in.

Monday was the first time all season that Cowan had trouble throwing strikes. He has gotten hit in the last month, but walks was never his problem until Monday.

as bad as some of he recent outings have been, he also went out and threw 3 shutout inning against Arkansas and 2.2 vs Tennessee.
the little rock started really concerning though. just nothing to offer even with extended rest

Pretend it’s the exact same situation we just had in our very last game.
In that game Jay stayed with Evans beyond where he otherwise would have with better options in the pen. Evans had clearly begun to lose his control. His count was up to the point where fatigue explained it. And his last option was Eyanson who obviously was in short rest.
If we see that scenario, in a game 1, with an available Evans (assumption) he’s making the move IMO. He’s definitely making it if he give up a base runner.

Actually not. I'm going to exactly what the OP asked

Youre adding to it.

His overall effectiveness has been a problem.
Is your only concern with Cowan the walks? If so, I don’t agree. I think there is a much bigger concern.

Shores would walk the first hitter he faced and hit the 2nd. Haven't we learned anything this year about our bullpen? We have one guy that is our closest thing to being predictable, and that is Evans.

Definitely not in your first post.
Are you saying that you’d stay with Anderson, even if he was losing his effectiveness and his pitch count was at the limit?
If so, I disagree but at least you’d be answering the question.

Y'all have lost your minds.
Eyanson pitches game 2 so you don't risk having to play a third game.

Casan Evans. If he just cant go for some reason,
He threw 100+ pitches Monday and maybe needed for game 3. That’s the reason.

I 100% agree.
BUT
We all know Jay analyzes and over analyzes every scenario and could play a game like this if the analytics dictate it.
We all also know that in the CWS in 2009, MAineri did this exact thing. He pitched his best pitcher on Friday and won. pitched off on Saturday, and brought his second ace out on Sunday to win it all.
While I agree that you pitch Eyanson in Game 2 and end it, its not some unthinkable scenario where Jay looks at it and says " they won't have any pitchers on Monday and Eyanson all but guarantees us a win.

You don't pitch off in a Super Regional.

I’m having Noot, Mayers, Shores, & Primeaux ready. Situational pitching and bring Evans in if needed.
