You bring in Evans and then you can decide if you want to pitch off in game 2 and have Eyanson DOMINATE whatever rag arm they throw out there for game 3 or if you want to just go for the jugular in Game 2.
Actually, this looks like a pretty sound plan. If you win you save Eyanson for the possible 3rd game. If you lose you have to go with Eyanson in the second game, and use Evans as long as as you can in the 3rd game. If only we had a decent bullpen. Other than possibly Williams, everyone else has stunk it up recently.

In Cowans last 4 appearances, what would make you select him to start game 2?
I'm wondering if Cowan is injured/arm fatigue His performances have gone over a cliff lately, and Jay just doesn't use him like earlier in the season

If you want to win it all, somebody on that staff other the. Anderson, Eyanson, and Evans have to give you some innings.
Actually you’re probably gonna need someone to step up to get to Omaha. 3 really effective pitchers will go a long way in Omaha the way the games are spread out.

Prior to this weekend I thought it was that teams had figured out him out, but this weekend he gave up a lot of walks.

Eyanson, obviously. The die has been cast.

Did you watch his last outing? Yikes.
Yea, he was great before that and there isnt a better realistic option

He hasn’t closed a single game this season
Doesnt really bother me.
There isnt a better option in my opinion at this time

Need more info for a final decision....like what part of the line-up is due up. Top of the order may dictate a higher credentialed pitcher. Middle to bottom of the order may allow a lesser pick, at least for one inning.

You had me until you said you’d bring in Eyanson on game 2. I’d rather Evans. Or Cowan.
If Eyanson doesn’t start game 2 he will certainly start game 3 and I want Evans ready to go to close it.

It’s pretty amazing how good of a season we have had, and yet we enter the Super Regionals with doubts as to who can close a game for us.
I get what you’re saying.

An effective Guidry would have done wonders for this team in the postseason.

Evans would be the guy.
LSU would prefer not to have to do that, but I think Jay makes that move.
The only way he doesn’t is if he for some reason thinks Evans himself isn’t ready after his extended appearance on Monday.

Cowan (I think Monday's game was an anomaly, not gonna happen again).
You must win game one. Use your best reliver to get the win. If for some reason you have to play a game 3, you Johnny wholestaff and stick with the hot arm (just like JJ did with Evans on Monday).

I don’t think it’s physical.
He looks like a guy that knows his stuff is going to be hit hard so he’s missing out of the strike zone in an attempt to throw the perfect pitch.
Teams at sitting on the change. They can afford to do it because he’s become predictable (doesn’t throw enough inside and doesn’t throw enough fastballs). But him getting behind in the counts also is a multiplier. He needs to be willing to have his fastball hit hard a few times. If he threw it enough I think he’d almost immediately become more effective.

Leave Anderson in.
Why take him out in that situation? I imagine his pitch count would be below average.

Won’t be a popular opinion, but I go to cowen for 1 inning and then to Evans for the 9th
Damn I miss Chris Cotton

It’s already happened again, and again, and again, and again.

For 6 outs Evans.
Game 2 you hope Eyenson goes deep and with a lead bring Evans in again.
