Galvenizing Coach O - What if he pulls this off?

First, my position has always been that the job should never have been offered based upon resume/credentials. Not a personal slight, but a business-like perspective. I have also believed that some of his legendary antics (i.e. shirt ripping, wild boyz, etc.) are not becoming of someone at the helm of an elite program.

BUT, I have always been endeared to him. I have also respected what he has accomplished as an elite dline coach and recruiter.

For the sake of argument, what if he pulls through and asserts the throne for himself?

I contend he could go down as the most galvanized/polarizing figure in LSU history. Native born son (at least SoLa) who, against all odds, won the hearts and RESPECT of the football world.

We love our underdogs...…..just sayin

And this summarizes his entire appeal. People in Louisiana love a good Cinderella story... to a fault, I'd say.

If he pull this off he will have proven everyone in the country wrong. He’s done a great job this season so far. Hope it continues

There is a chance CEO puts his mark on this thing.

My Aggie friend feels that he is a great fit for our program.

I get the strong feeling that the rest of college football fans are not harsh about the CEO hire.

Remember, most people in Baton Rouge didn't know who Nick Saban was when Emmert introduced him.

that’s sad. He was a really good NFL defensive coordinator prior to Michigan state

Honestly why would they? Based on game 1 results, it would appear Florida State replaced Jimbo with one of the worst coaching jobs I've ever seen. Why would anyone outside their fan base react to that outside of ACC opponents? I live in Bama land sadly. I get to hear everyday the laughter over the O hire. Yes, even after the Miami game.

I will NOT argue with anyone about the possibility of it happening or not happening.

I will say this though 100%.

If Ed Orgeron wins a national championship at LSU, he will be beloved in Louisiana and will garner respect throughout America.

I think if O leads us to a NY6 bowl this year, it will really shed some light on the let down that was the 2017 season.

FWIW the talent on this team is good enough to win every game on our schedule. Doing it is another thing. We will learn a lot about this team on the Plains.

I was not predisposed against O. None.

He lost me with the E OC hire. That had me going into depression (for real) and showed me i was too emotionally invested in this. Just had to walk away since. FTR, it's TGBFTL that's getting me out of my football funk.

I think he's lazy (didn't do his research for the Canada hire), dishonest (hire the best coordinators thing), and doesn't have the mettle to stay the course across an entire season at a major program.

All that said, I hope he wins a natty. I think only the U has had three consecutive coaches win natty's. Hope we can join them.

Based on his resume up until the season opener, I'd bet just about every fan of another SEC school thought "he is a great fit" at LSU. Wouldn't you want Auburn, Bama or Florida to hire someone with that resume?

Hopefully he can give them all a well done shitburger to cram down their holes.

How far are you going to go off the deep end this weekend if LSU scores 40+.

Your melt last Saturday was quite an entertaining sight.
