I guess it's possible that each of these dudes reflect back on this and hang their heads a bit and acknowledge "not our finest hour." I mean, for Herbie Hancock to even come up with that idea of a "presser" in BR, then back to coaching ND......mind you, a presser consisting of "ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you your next LSU Fighting Tigers Head Football Coach, Coach Brian Kelly!!!" Rah rah applause applause. Then hop a plane back to be ND head ball coach. Lolol

And what's his face down there with the suits, Desmons, how he managed to segue like that from "questionable cultural fit" to "stiffer competition on a weekly basis" and not even really understand that notable shift, hell I just don't know. Maybe this is just all a bad dream. It's hard to make sense of.

Of course their moronic takes were likely influenced by that other moronic deal about the southern accent. They just couldn't let it be, had to get in the action.

Fucc dem.

They are upset because Scott wasn’t supposed to be able to do this. Personally, I’d like to think that I would’ve stayed and finished out the season if I were in coach Kelly’s shoes. But I cAnt say for sure if another school put a $100mm contract in front of me that I wouldn’t have bounced.

Isn’t Napier doing this?

And I don’t think it matters. BK said it well with “players play the game, not coaches.”

He only did it for the conference championship yesterday. Not coaching the bowl game and most likely already in Gainesville right now.

Notre Dame has long been the darling of ESPN. Even when the Fighting Irish were irrelevant, they were still getting as much attention from the network as teams hunting for a championship.

Notre Dame is the Dallas Cowboys of college football and it should come as no surprise when commentators and writers, who have fawned over this program for years, also become protective of the brand they have sanctified.

It's all bogus and fully indicative of the current state of media in this country.

I disagree with Kirk. No way LSU's newly appointed HC should be spending time prepping and coaching ND for their bowl game. He has recruiting duties and needs to put together a staff. Its not like he'll be sitting around with nothing to do. Also, he needs to get his family settled in.

HC's leave and take new jobs year-in and year-out. Only difference is the fact ND is the school perceived as getting shafted. The media isn't so worried about WHAT happened but more WHO it happened to.

Saban was adamant that he wasn't going to leave the Dolphins and be the coach of Alabama. He left, started building great classes/teams, won titles and never looked back. The media kisses his azz all day and I guess the way he left the Dolphins was forgotten. Riley left OU and is stealing recruits, yet the media bashes and criticizes Kelly more.

The media will pray Kelly fails bcuz they won't want to look back on their current comments. Once BK wins his 1st title, the media, as fickle as always, will pretend they never ever questioned the move and praise him for his accomplishment.

Haven't watched Gameday in 3 years. Doesn’t seem like I’m missing much.

This x 1000.

In my time hiring/firing…..you either work for me, or you don’t. Period. No “finish the season” or handing in your two weeks.

ESPECIALLY so when your employer has you sign a 10 year 100 million dollar contract where they expect you to do those things.

Nothing was said about Lincoln Reilly doing the same thing before Kelly did it.

From listening to all the pundits criticism, and lack of for Riley, all it tells me is that they are beholden to this days of the past mantra that ND and USC are big boys and LSU isn't. How dare little ole LSU steal a coach from ND. And the audacity of Kelly to even think of such a thing. It's like they forget about the last 20 years of LSU winning and ND/USC not. History tells us they'll be back yet it also tells us LSU is on the big boy block now and not dropping back down. All of their opinions are just propaganda for the ESPN machine.

Herbie wanted Kelly to come to BR, do a presser that he’s the new HC, then go back to coach ND? There was nothing left to coach…their season was over. Give Kelly credit for knowing ND wasn’t getting an invite to the CFP.

This will be the new way of coaches leaving schools for other jobs as long as the early signing day is around. That alone requires new hires to get in and get to recruiting to secure as good a class as possible. Take that aspect away and there would be plenty of time for a coach to stay and finish the post season with their soon to be previous team. Also, when you pay someone $100M, it's time to get to work. It may make some people feel good but it's not at all reasonable to expect any of the involved parties to be ok with that. Regardless of what many ND fans/players say, they most likely wouldn't have wanted him sticking around for another game after announcing that he's leaving.

It’s not Brian Kelly’s fault he has to leave ND right now. It’s the NCAA’s fault for putting early signing day, where majority of the recruiting class signs, so close to the end of the season. It needs to be in August with a clause that if the head coach leaves the school you signed with you have a certain time frame to reopen your recruitment.

Mostly spot on.
Kelly and LSU want to win Nattys and probably will together.

Now for the three laughers.
The people of Baton Rouge and New Orleans are a unique culture in the world.

Wrong. BR and NO are unique cultureS in the world and from each other. If the moron doesn’t know that, then he is not qualified to talk about the multiple cultures in Louisiana.

Kelly tried to talk Southern. I’ve lived in Louisiana my whole life, I’ve watched the clip several times, and frankly I don’t see or hear it. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t see its importance anymore than if he wore purple socks for the first time in his life.

And finally the “Break Up”. First there’s no good way to break up. Second, he wanted to tell his team and admin quickly and personally like a man. Someone leaked it to “sports journalist” like these four morons and ruined his planned exit strategy. And he needed to start earning his millions of LSU dollars immediately! Flying back to ND was classy on the part of CBK
