This is definitely on the short list of games for me this season. Will see how it shakes out.

I'd tell folks the opposite (and I'm in Louisville).

OP really has it covered well. My only additional suggestions are if you have a change, check out the West Sixth Brewery Tour in Lexington (they're starting them back up this summer). And even if you're not a "horse person", go to Keeneland.

That all said, if any folks are flying into Louisville and staying for a evening before they head to Lexington I'd be happy to provide Louisville reqs as well.

West 6th has a taproom in Nulu now

Keeneland is the obvious draw to Lexington but that is an easy day trip from louisville

Please tell about Louisville. I am in Evansville and it sucks so bad I drive to Louisville or Nashville to do anything decent.

Yeah I was there in '07. Had a fantastic time in Lexington except or the 3 hrs on Saturday afternoon. Really only about an hour or so from 4th quarter thru the end of OT.

Lexington was great though. Definitely go to Keeneland.

Just changed my flights to flying into Cincinnati that Thursday and flying home from Cincinnati that Monday.

Spend Thursday and Friday drinking around Lexington, tailgate Saturday and go to the LSU game, party with Tigers in Lexington Saturday night, head to Cincinnati Sunday morning to go to the Bengals game and watch LSU North and Joe and Jamaar and Thad.

Should be a great trip.

I’ve never eaten at a restaurant in Frankfort, but I have toured Buffalo Trace and driven to look at the state capital building. It’s gorgeous! I encourage you to drive to the right of the capital building, up the hill, and in the back just park your car in that parking lot. Walk to the back wall, and get a picturesque view of the Kentucky River.

Regarding burgers in Lexington, any place downtown:

Postmaster’s Pub is one of my favorite restaurants. There is a burger called The Idiot Burger- patty w/ cheese, and fixings which includes a thick, fried onion ring topped with pulled pork.

Sidebar Grill is a small restaurant/bar with an excellent, old-fashioned hamburger

Sawyers is a hole in the wall burger joint where you dress your burger yourself. They’re delicious.

Oscar Diggs specializes in burgers, I’ve been a couple times and enjoy it, but their menu changes.

Hotel is booked in Lexington for Friday & Saturday. Also planning to hit up Keeneland and Maker's Mark while I'm up there.

The best place to eat in town is Carson's...hands down. Jeff Ruby's is WAAAAAAY overpriced, but if you are staying at the Marriott or Residence Inn City Center then pop in for a drink. The best rooftop bar/lounge is at Infinity bar at the top of the Marriott. Then, you can head over to Bourbon on Rye or Bluegrass Tavern or McCarthy's for good bourbon selections.

If you want to go to Carson's then you'll 100% need a reservation and I would make them ASAP. They get busy for brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 11-3.

As far as the best burger in town its a duel between Dudley's Da Burger and Carson's Pork Belly w/ Beer Cheese Burger. Both are about 1200 calories each and will hurt you, but man are they sensational.

For the best prices on bourbon in town, I would probably venture to McCarthy's but the best selection and availability is probably Jake's Cigar bar (Not in downtown).

For those Marriott loyalists you'll like the Infinity bar and the rooftop lounge. From there you can walk to pretty much anywhere you want off Main street and for the younger crowd a few blocks from the college bars on Limestone.

I will also warn the Marriott prior to stock the bar with ample amounts of beer because WE will drink them out. Similar to the situation in Atlanta.

Just a friendly suggestion, Maker's is in Loretto Kentucky and about 1.5 hours from Lexington maybe further. I HIGHLY suggest going to either Woodford Reserve and/or Buffalo Trace as they are closer and an overall better experience in my opinion.

Obviously if you love Maker's then go for it, this is not a bashing of their bourbon or brand its just super hard to get to and off the beaten path.

Can't wait to have all my Tiger fans and alum in Lex that weekend.

We have made this trip twice (bluegrass Miracle and 3 OT game) and we always bet the pony's on the Friday before at Keenland while drinking mint juleps. Hope to get to make the trip again this year.

My company has a facility in New Albany, IN (Louisville) that I've been meaning to visit so my plan is to fly into Louisville that Weds then I'll drive over to Lexington that Friday.

It looks like Woodford Reserve and Buffalo Trace are both right off 64 on the way to Lexington so they're definitely the better options. Which one would you recommend?
