PM is right. It's a fricking lousy system.

The Dodgers have not begun to negotiate with him yet.

People there is still a chance that he could sign a professional contract and still play football @ LSU.

He has already stated he will not go that route, if they show him the money he will go. The only question is how much the Dodgers will part with for him, when they other options.

He signed a contract with the Angels in which they got his baseball rights if he so chooses to play baseball in the next 6 years. He also had to give up his scholarship and is now considered a walk-on and the Angels pay for his schooling now. Also, he signed as a CF, not as a pitcher.

We'll be talking about this kid for the next 5 or 6 years regardless of what happens.

I know the tuition is a drop in the bucket compared to what it would cost the Angels contractually, but that's pretty cool he got a pro team to pay for his college degree.

I just hope this doesn't set him up to be the next Josh Booty, regardless of what he does. If he stays on campus, I hope people don't expect him to be the Friday night starter and All-American starting quarterback immediately.

what are u about? nothing's changed.. in fact the dodgers still havent contacted him. gotta be a good sign.

as far as the dodgers GM statement of

quote:

"I didn't take Zach to not sign him,"

thats complete BS... thats exactly why they drafted him

He'll prob get an offer late this week or over the weekend and he'll have to decide one way or another. Hopefully they don't meet his high asking price. If they do, LSU football could be fricked for a short period of time.

I think it is pretty standard for MLB teams to set aside college money for kids signed out of highschool.

I think LSURussian is, ask him. From what I heard, its alot of old people. But you do get to meet some of the players and get tidbits other people dont. I doubt its more than a couple hundred bucks a year.

if the dodgers haven't called him since drafting him I think it's pretty safe to say they aren't in the same ballpark. Lee hasn't put in the work he's put in this summer to jump at some half arse offer either.

I hope he stays but I don't understand the anxiety. He looks to be a good QB but some on here are acting like he's the second coming of Peyton Manning. Putting aside Garrett, he's the lowest rated (out of high school) QB signee since Flynn in 2003. Shepard, Jefferson, J. Lee, Perrilloux and JaMarcus were all as highly rated or higher rated than Z. Lee.

I know that rivals rankings aren't everything but people are acting as if we'll never win another game if he signs with the Dodgers. We'll be fine. We have two good QBs committed for next year and we'll have year 3 of the JJ/JL controversy in 2011.

Anyway, just wanted to throw out a chill pill to the Rant.

Miles better pray Lee doesn't sign because we will have another QB gap like we experienced with the Perilloux fiasco. Miles took away the scholarship from Chris Garrett (what is the truth here?) gambling that Lee remains at LSU. If Lee does go pro bball, then we better see Russell Shepard getting some QB play this year.
