ND has benefitted from playing a non conference schedule and that isn't even debatable. If yall were in a conference you would understand that your conference games are more important than any OOC game is each year...USC and the other teams you play have more important games than an OOC match up with ND.

Freeman is a good coach, or has shown to be so far. He hasn't had to build a program so there is no evidence he can do so.

quote:

Brian Kelly is a better fit at LSU than he was at Notre Dame. Fair?

I am not a CBK fan but I have to be bc I'm an LSU fan but I do not think he is a good fit at LSU and I definitely think he fit in better at ND.

Wait, the Bears are taking BK off our hands?
Would Joe Brady take $250 Million over 20 years and come home to LSU?

MF should be the Tigers DC right now. You are very lucky your AD made a move on Freeman. Rees and Denbrock should be on the tigers staff also. Woody dropped ball. These were all BK guys.

I think ND needed some fresh energy. They don’t hire Freeman because things weren’t going well when Kelly left.

I think LSU needed a steady hand and experience.

I will just say this, ND lost 3 playoff games to really good National champions. 2 undefeated teams and a very good 2012 Alabama team with 1 loss.

I think he has a better playoff record if he gets to play indiana and Penn State or UGA without their starting QB.

Freeman couldn’t have took Notre Dame from when Brian Kelly inherited that program and brought it to what it is today like Kelly did.

This is such a stupid thing to say. I don’t really care about Freeman and I can’t stand ND, but how on earth did you arrive at this conclusion?

People just make shite up and pass it along to try to prove a point and I don’t ever think people stop to consider what the frick they’re even saying.

Pre-Kelly Notre Dame (2003-2009) = 46-40 and 4 seasons at .500 or worse

Kelly at ND (2010-2021) = 113-40 and 1 season under .500 with 1 NCG appearance and 2 final four appearances

Kelly's last 5 years at ND before leaving for LSU = 54-9 with 2 playoff appearances.
Final Rankings:
2017 = #11
2018 = #5
2019 = #12
2020 = #4
2021 Week 15 = #5

To sit there and say a coach that did this was not a good fit is straight revisionist history. ND fans were pissed because Kelly didn't want to be there anymore. I am sure it hurt and the fact you're on an LSU message board a week before the NCG tells us you are still hurt.

No one here gives a rip about what ND did/does/will do. We just don't care about that program. Kelly's been gone for 3 years, just get over it and move on.

Also, don't try to sugar coat the fortuitous schedule ND has had this year in the regular season and playoffs. It's not their fault, but be honest about it.

You sure about that?

Freeman has had a nice year thus far. However, if he loses Monday then got no higher than Kelly at ND

And that schedule was an absolute joke.

Some of you have tried to diminish what Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame have done this year

Pointing out a weak schedule and second easiest path through the playoffs is not "diminishing" but rather a counter to the trie-hard of the media and irish that "Freeman is totally way better don't look twice."

Awesome, want a cookie?

Freeman will constantly be coveted by NFL
Down year for SEC
ND has a built in advantage with 12 team playoff, good for them.
CBK has faults, no doubt

You’ve got a few things that aren’t debatable & the major one being MF seems like a good guy and the media will love him.

What is it with you fricking ND fans? We get it you hate BK and Freeman is the truth and will shite all over everything BK ever did for ND, which your side thinks was absolutely nothing.

How did you interpret that from what I wrote? But you are right in that the entire discussion board at ND Nation hated him years before he left...and starting to see some of that here.

All this and yall cant admit that without brian kelly, yall wouldnt have the backing and funding you do now.

All this also to just for yall to finish in the exact same spot as 2012 with alot easier circumstances.

You mean the same schedule where ND went 2-0 against A&M and USC and you went 0-2? And also beat your SEC champs?

Too funny. All the multiple posts by your own fan base on this very board about Notre Dame and Marcus Freeman say otherwise.

i would say congrats to Freeman on continuing what Kelly did and elevating it in certain ways, in his fashion.

he's proving to be a good one

BK has proven to provide a sense of stability at both programs, which is always a good thing.

next year, BK will have his best and likely his most cohesive team on both sides of the ball, so it's really a no excuses type of year.

One of the few who responded who has a good perspective and who truly gets what I was saying. Thank you.

Oh, on the contrary. We are very happy Freeman is our coach instead of BK.

I never said BK wasn't a good coach (I specifically pointed out he is) or didn't do good things for Notre Dame. He just didn't do great things. And funny... I'm reading the exact same complaints here about him in regards to LSU football. Hmm....
