Frankly, the transfers concern me but not for the reasons I'm seeing here....

I'm just concerned about only having 2 QBs who are even arguably SEC legit on the roster right now. Sure. That usually is enough. But damn. I sure hope we don't get dinged up.

I realize that any school is concerned about going to #3. But who the hell is our number 3 anyway?

But, more importantly, it means that AGAIN, LSU is going to have a pretty substantial gap in QB classes. It turns this year's QB recruiting into nearly emergency proportions

Sale is #3. Seven starts at Tenn Tech last year. Parents and sister went to LSU. He’s way better than many 3rd stringers at other schools

This is the only reasonable reason to be concerned. All of the other stuff is just a bunch of fans on edge all off season.

It highlights once again why you absolutely must target and prioritize a good/great QB every year.

Well, Brennan can be a solid backup I think. Not many programs are going to be able to keep 3 solid backups. Those 2 walk-ons will have to suffice after Brennan.

Tell me where the gap lies? Burrow has 2 years and Brennan has 3 if he does not redshirt this year. Where is the gap?

I'm concerned about O's overall people and roster management, not specifically those players.

That and...if MB is that good, how come he wasn't ahead in the Spring...? That's a little scary that we were facing JM starting until Burrow came in. Just odd.

What is the status of all other SEC schools and their back up QB's? Are the 2 and 3 guys on the roster a drop off in talent, sans Bama if Hurts stays, or are they a minor drop?

The number 3 at most top tier schools is a 4 star prospect.

I'm pretty sure the transfers are because there is a tremendous gap between Burrow and the rest

Freauxzen - I've seen you point this out in numerous posts. Find something new to contribute.

Scary thought.

Was Brennan #4 before the transfers

Because MB will be the future. JM was more mature possibly for this year. Its not odd at all. WTF?

Good QBs don't stick around anymore, so this isn't really true. Alabama, the top do has had a 3* starting for a couple of years and lost almost all of their other commits to transfer.

The number 2 at OSU just transferred to...LSU

I really can't think of anyone who can go three deep without being in serious trouble

Can you really name the #3 at Alabama? It's not a big deal. Eason left as soon as Fromm was named the starter.

I wouldn't worry about 3rd stringer. We need burrow to be Mett level to win 10 games. If he is not or gets hurt we are not going to win more then 6 or 7 and it's a disaster anyway no matter who else starts.

So basically LSU is in the same boat as every other team in the nation

The (now) defending national champions went into last season with a Soph returning starter and two true freshman backups who had never taken a college snap. It worked out ok.

LSU's depth chart is a grad transfer with a sophmore backup who played significant snaps in 5 games as a Freshman.

Kids want to play now in today’s world. They aren’t willing to wait. Remember that Matt Flynn was a 5th year senior that waited his turn. Not many kids willing to be that patient today especially at the QB position. Coaches can’t be faulted in this situation. He’ll look at Bama they have a guy that has won 26 games in 2 years that won’t be on that roster after December.

I'll settle for a number 3 who beat out a 4-star and caused him to transfer.

"If #LSU would use a 3rd QB this season, meet Andre Sale, the same guy who made former Tiger and 4-star QB Hayden Rettig transfer last season"

"Ironically, Sale beat out former LSU and four-star quarterback Hayden Rettig to start the season opening, 41-14, loss against Western Illinois. Sale completed 11-of-22 passes for 223 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while Rettig completed 4-of-8 passes for 29 yards and an interception in relief.

Sale started the next week in a 27-14 loss to Kennesaw State and connected on 31-of-42 for 297 yards with a pair of scores against three interceptions. Rettig did not play and left school the following week"

So Ree, was #1 item on the “AD/O PR defense to do” list today to pop up in QB threads and promote Sale as a good qb?

Is #2 to go and gather all the leftover “Danny Etling is a good quarterback” t-shirts and put Andre Sale’s name on it?
