I will never forget when he took a nose dive over the mound in the pregame of the CWS that year. That was great

So.....he’s 25? Like I said? Not sure why the “actually” was necessary there
Yeah he’s 25 and will be 26 this year. That’s a huge difference it’s not like he turned 25 this year. He was a nice player here but let’s not kid ourselves, he isn’t ever going to the bigs. Players like Jake and others play in the minors, make shite money, travel is a nightmare and they’re out by 27/28.
So actually yeah, his baseball clock is ticking quickly. He isn’t some 17 year old out of high school in AA.

Tons of upside. He could just never get it going here.

He was the 2nd oldest player in the Tennessee smokies lineup last night. Other than some random 27yr old. Brethe
Did not play last night

People underrate how devastating that call was. I think we win that game and then have Lange going the next night and take down UF. Oh well
We're Football and Baseball season ticket holders.
People think I'm joking when I say losing to Florida for the CWS Title hurt me more than 1/9/2012.
Very happy for Squints. He was a great Team Player for LSU.

But Reid wasn't better than Slaughter even in college. Reid was a singles hitter who hit .267 over his career here with no speed. He had like 2 home runs in over 400 AB. Slaughter hit near the same average (.255 career) Reid did but at least had some power (11 HR in 333 AB). In fact Slaughter slugged .432 his last year here, improving a decent bit from his freshman year here. Reid was a .337 career slugger here and his best season was his freshman one.
It’s debatable. Slaughter had more power and speed but Reid had a much better OBP and overall approach at the plate. Defensively Reid was more sound but his range was limited.

Was he? Slaughter didn’t have a great 2018 season defensively but only made 2 errors, starting 40 games, in 2017 (.994 FLD%)
For their careers, Reid had a .939 and Slaughter a .973 FLD%. That’s a pretty sizeable advantage to Slaughter IMO
The only advantage Reid held really was OBP%, but only 24 XBHs in 524 plate appearances is really hard to overlook

Saw him play against Biloxi a few weeks back. He smashed 2 Bombs that night.

That's fair. Those defensive stats surprise me. For whatever reason I didn't remember Slaughter being that good defensively. Getting old

The fine print would tell you he played 1B in 2017 (2errors) and 3B in 2018 (10 errors).
You aren’t getting that old

And the fine print would tell you he was still better defensively than Reid. You’re going to hold onto this thing forever aren’t you?

I haven’t thought about it in 5 years tbh

Slaughter was garbage at LSU and blew game 2 of the 2017 CWS finals. At least he's starting to play better baseball.

Me, too. From the title of the post I was wondering why anybody would put out info on a guy’s alcohol rehab.
