I'm not understanding then. I was under the impression that if you terminate a coach for cause, and you have proof, that you are not obligated to pay them ANY portion of that contract.

Let me understand your thesis. You think LSU has just cause to fire Canada and not pay him anything but instead chose to pay him 50% to conceal the very justification they had to pay him nothing?

That’s some Fat Bastard logic there.

So then it appears LSU did not have cause to dismiss him, wouldn't you agree?

I believe Canada could’ve gotten his full guaranteed contact had he pursued it. He accepted 50% for the benefit of gagging. If he was innocent and this was simply O meddling and wanting him out, then you damn sure better believe he’d have gone for what he was owed.

You do know that the buyout to which he agreed is not affected by his pay at Maryland, right? Had he not taken the buyout, any money he makes elsewhere is just reduced from what LSU owes him. His take home really didn't change much if at all.

The $1.7 million is slightly more than half of the $3.25 million he was due to earn through the end of his contract after the 2019 season.

He came up way short of what he would’ve received.

This will only hasten the demise of Ogre and Alleva and O. A guy they begged to fire, and had to pay to go, is then made the HC at a P5 team. within months

He’s gagged and took half the money that was due to him. Obviously he wasn’t in a position of strength during negotiations. That should speak volumes to anyone with an IQ north of Fat Bastard’s.

Yea, tells me they didn't legit have him for cause, or if they did, that Ed O was also in the wrong and that it was worth half of what they owed Canada still just for him to keep his mouth shut. You don't pay people when you fire them unless they have something on you as well

Thanks for reiterating what I said, now lose some weight

LSU is the party that demanded the gag.

Doofus, now that hes head coach, LSU wouldn't have had to pay him anything more. But MC now gets to keep ALL that LSU buyout, + cash those big Md paystubs.

Hes making bank, and LSU just took a major PR hit. With the potential of an avalanche of bad PR

Hey got half in a lump sum, instead of stretched out, or reduced by any salary.

He also doesn’t have to fight out LSU or get into a public mud slinging match.
I doubt We had cause, but I also Doubt either party would have looked like roses.

If LSU wanted the gag they would’ve have to have paid a premium. You don’t reduce someone’s pay and make additional demands. Some of y’all are woefully pitiful at business.

Hey, doofus he’s an interim while an investigation is ongoing. He could be back to OC in weeks. Either way, none of that was known in January.

EVERYONE on tRant said Orgeron would be back on his way to DL coach and LSU would hire a real HC in 2016 too.

The biggest desperate lie ever told by the O haters.

"We probably don't win the NC without Perilloux, "

Perilous was a great talent that had little work ethic, or structure dispute what you snot lickers want to make believe.

To say that his packaged plays see the reason we were champions is grade school rhetoric. Perillouxs success at LSU is nothing that any other play by that offense couldn't have accomplished. Yes. It worked, and we were blessed. But the risk of playing him in those situations were far more negative than "dancing with who you came here with". I hated the waste of Perilloux by Les Miles. But this is entirely on Rain Man Miles. If he ran a program lime Orgeron, Perilloux would have been a legend in TIGER Town.

Don't think Durkin's getting that job back. Someone died under his watch and the deceased's family is calling for his job. Maryland AD will happily offload him if it helps to settle things quickly.

I don’t either, but calling Canada a HC and saying that he’s making bank now is an incredible reach when he’s yet to see sidelines there and his salary is about $1,000,000 less than what he was making at LSU.
