He pretty much inherited what Les Miles did from Nick Saban. Not saying he has 4*-5* full roster, but he should be able to do better?

In other words, ND needs to severely lower their expectations. Brian Kelly is the best coach they were ever going to get. They are in for some dark times up in South Bend and will be longing for the success BK brought to the program.

Freeman was Kelly's DC and Reese was his OC. They have to share similar ideas between the old staff and new. Also, Kelly did not leave the cupboard barren.
Maybe he does have to rebuild, but it is not major.

ND the last 5 years with Kelly:
11-2 (1 loss when Freeman coached bowl game)
10-2
11-2
12-1
10-3
Freeman for 2022 season: 3-3
Not the start a lot of ND fans expected.

Irish twitter don’t know what to do with their hands after all the shite they talked.
Kelly 5-2 with a ton of positive momentum on the field and in recruiting while taking over a depleted roster and complete overhaul coming off a losing season. Freeman losing to bad Stanford and Marshall teams coming off an 11 win season last year lol
LOL

I don't know. That 2005 team was pretty stacked. Potential NC winner if not for katrina

ND fans prior to the start of the season were as insufferable as 8&4 fans are before the start of every season.
I don't care who the coach and the coordinators are/were, who was retained, or what players returned; there's always turbulence when a head coach is replaced.
ND fans should have known this after their pre-Kelly coaching carousel, but instead decided to shite-post their way into infamy about "getting rid of the baggage holding the Irish Back" and how "Kelly will disappoint LSU fans the same way he did ND fans". Or, my favorite, "ND kept the coordinators that made Kelly successful and dumped a mediocre head coach".
Delusional fans are delusional. They'll learn better, one way or the other.

That was his point. Les inherited a loaded roster. Freeman inherited a loaded roster.

The most outspoken fans are usually the dumbest, and this is no different with Notre Dame.

What rebuild? He was already at the program. A so called “players coach” at an institution that hasn’t lost more than two games in years. He will fail spectacularly and it will be glorious to witness.

Running the table in 2005 would have been more painful than the result we actually got.
USC-Texas were not budging from #1/#2. Bama started 9-0 and were ranked 4th still behind Miami.

That's pretty brilliant analysis from a guy that has exactly 1 year of experience in the P5 as a DC, and 7 weeks of experience as a head coach ever.

Got to re-mold the program into his vision.

Meanwhile, he looks completely lost on the sidelines during games which is also funny to watch.

Between that and r/CFB it’s been hilarious to see how quickly it went south for them.
