Hey now I hear that ETBU WR coach can cook up some decent brisket so let's leave him out of this.

I'm just here to remind everyone that UF couldn't do better than hiring a coach from the Sun Belt.

His victories over Ark St, South Alabama, Georgia St, Nicholls and La-Monroe by a COMBINED 15 points was where my concerns were.

His 20 pt loss to a team that gave up 57 pts in a loss to Kansas was also problematic.

While not everyone can become a great player, great players can come from anywhere.

LSU should use USL as a farm club or like a jr college. Put some players there to see if they develop. If the do than they can come to the Big Boys

Honestly what is this based on? What makes you think that Napier is a better hire than Kelly?

This is monumentally stupid. LSU is taking players who are leaving usl. These are players with NCAA playing experience right here in the state. What does that have to do with Napier as a coach?

Seems to me the dude did a pretty good job of getting top-shelf talent to go to his "little league" school. I'd bet he'd DOMINATE recruiting to LSU -- Hoping for the best with Kelly, but I still think Napier would have been THE hire.

Intelligent reply!

I'm from NOLA, LSU is my #1 team, and I pull for UL b/c I live in Lafayette and I have family alumni -- Oh, and the two schools are NOT NATURAL RIVALS so I enjoy both.

Right -- so with ALL the talent available nationwide in the Transfer Portal, LSU is only going to target for sure backup level talent.

Makes sense.

Math wasn't a strong suit for you, I take it.

I guess I didn't realize there were only 3 other schools LSU could pick from...

There are 130 FBS Schools. UL makes up exactly .769%, and yet made up 15.789% of portal targets.

Two things you can admit:
1) you suck at math
2) Napier was getting better talent to Lafayette than you realized.

Y'all's primary argument against Napier was that he didn't have any P5 experience as a HC -- ostensibly because that would relate to his ability to reel in top talent? He got Mustang 5.0 results out of a Toyota Camry. At LSU he would've had the keys to a Lambo.

This take is so similar to most of the responses I've seen... and you rag on my "ULL" degree? (I didn't go to ULL)

The mess Orgeron made has NOTHING TO DO with WHERE the transfer targets played CFB. The mess made just means more transfer targets are necessary. There are 65 Power 5 teams with players LSU could have offered. 3/19 went to ULL players.

My GOD some of you guys are stupid.

UL has had a better football team the last 2 years. They have better football players at positions LSU needs help. I don't know why you dipshits dont understand this.

While that has been a low bar the past 2 years, I don't think you can say this confidently. After 0-22 with 0 offensive TDs scored, you pretty much have to take a wait-and-see approach

The MAN is extremely impressive in terms of character, charisma, and prior-to-becoming-a-HC pedigree.

Well-established in SEC recruiting pipeline.
Very well-established recruiting Louisiana.
Did more with less than any coach ever has at ULL.

Oh and BTW, Auburn, USCe, and Florida -- among others -- were impressed enough to offer him the job...

Someone said we'd find out in 11 months... No we won't.

It'll take 2-3 years minimum to even establish a fair Napier vs Kelly comparison, but part of the equation we will never know. One of the bigger reasons for my confidence, as stated above, was how quickly and powerfully Napier had built momentum recruiting in the most talent-rich state in the nation.

None of that proves that he his a better hire than Brian Kelly.

If these schools had the option, how many do you think would pick Napier over Kelly?

I don't think Napier is a bad coach, but as of now there is not a single reason to believe that he is better than Brian Kelly.
