I was there 1978-81. Unbelievable how much fun we had.

I went to all three of them. Good times indeed.

To the morons that made jokes about the "championship runs" that supposedly weren't...

LSU was an annual fixture in the NCAAT. Wasn't a question of IF we would make it, it was WHERE we would be seeded. There were final four runs. We were very close to having back to back final four teams (Nakita Wilson was so close).

So, yeah. Don't comment if you have no clue.

I ask you with regards to the whole fan base of LSU as far as interest right now, how would you rank football, men's basketball, baseball, gymnastics, and women's basketball?

1. football
2. baseball
3. gymnastics
4. women's basketball
5. Men's basketball

I agree. That is how I see basketball now. MBB has more proven history of interest than gymnastics and WBB. Baseball was not relevant until late 80s and early to mid 90s after winning the CWS.

I know the 81 and 86 FF teams had success. Shame that LSU had Shaq, Stanley Roberts, Chris Jackson and could not make the FF. The early 90s had plenty of interest when football sucked under Archer and Curley.

Those games were some of the most fun I’ve had at LSU events. Unfortunately so many fans today have no idea how much fun basketball could be.

It's such a different era now - I don't think it could ever be as good as it was, cell phones and the numerous other distractions there are today, were not there back then, it was special to go to a game.

But we could certainly have an environment akin to what the women's team has - no reason we could not create that - but I still think to create even that you would need a coach with some personality and enthusiasm to help it get there. In other words just winning alone IMHO does not create the type of environment Kim has.

Thanks Scott Woodward, I know this is hindsight bias but I think he and a lot of us (me included) got seduced by McMahon's 31-3 record his last year at Murray and convinced ourselves we'd return to Wade level excellence accordingly, once we started losing consistently in SEC play year 1 after our strong OOC start, that theory went out the window and his weaknesses as coach got exposed.

And if the NCAA would have sanctioned LSU basketball, who cares? Seriously would the basketball program being sanctioned in '22, '23 and '24 would have been any worse than what we are experiencing right now under CMM?

Honestly, we're probably worse off with how irrelevant we are now, how bad an SEC coach McMahon is, and that will translate to our recruiting results unless we get a legit, awesome head coach like Wade back or the caliber of Wade

I completely agree with this post
