I really wish someone would teach them how to draw a real bracket. This shite hurts my eyes. Why even label top Bracket One and then put LSU down in line with Bracket Two? I know it's b/c of game time and order, but it doesn't make sense if you are tying to follow the bracket.

For me it was more about the info than the layout...
It had all game times and winner/loser advancements so I could plan my week out depending on how we might advance from Day 1.
The other brackets I saw didnt have all the info so I couldn't speculate what time we'd play on Friday based on win/loss Wed and Thurs.

Just really looking forward to Skenes pitching against Arkansas. 1 of the few teams he did not get a victory against.

So if I follow this right, we win today and we're off til Saturday. But if we lose today, we play tomorrow AND Saturday (if we win tomorrow). Either way, if we win Saturday we play one game Sunday, and if we lose Saturday we're done. Is that all correct?
I'm going to add my agreement that the mixed double/single elimination format is clunky, lame, and not worth it imo. Just keep it double elimination at least to the championship (like the CWS used to be), or single elimination throughout. Single elimination throughout would also have the benefit of slightly improving the odds of an otherwise left out Cinderella squeaking into an NCAA bid by winning the SEC Tourney.
But, just keep winning and it doesn't matter anyway!

You got it exactly right!
I'm always for more baseball and the single elim play-in games are funky, but they give a few extra teams a shot and so ones like A&M are taking advantage of it.
So many quality teams in the SEC the play-ins are legit games unlike many other sports/leagues where play-ins kinda let in one last also-ran team.

bama has quietly done very well since firing their coach

Only 6 teams left. Straightforward now.
Tomorrow
1) A&M v. Loser of LSU/Arkansas
2) Alabama v. Loser of Florida/Vanderbilt
Saturday
3) Winner of LSU/Arkansas v. Winner of Game 1
4) Winner of Florida/Vanderbilt v. Winner of Game 2
Sunday
Championship between winner of Game 3 & 4

Screwball format, IMHO...

Kinda prefer double Elimination throughout.
Don’t like a one loss team beating a zero loss team and winning the tournament.
Should have to beat them twice.

I thought the bracket flipped going to semifinals. Team from bracket 1 plays team from bracket 2. I like the single elimination semis especially with the pitching.

So basically if we win tomorrow we’re back to being even with Arkansas and the winner moves on?
Posted on 5/25/23 at 10:31 pm to Tigerpride18
Correct. Unlikely now but can still win the championship going through Arkansas and Florida and getting those crucial H2H victories over them heading into selection day.
I think the teams are close enough in the committee’s eyes that the winner of the SECt out of those 3 would get the national #2 seed, IMO.

This year seeding order is a little more important than previous years. Starting this year the higher seed determines the home team for the entire tournament. So a #1 National seed is guaranteed to be home team for every game they play. Every move up would help us at the CWS.
