3 of the final 4 teams didn’t make it out of their regional, including the champion.

Can we now agree performance in this tournament has virtually no affect on “getting right” or “establishing momentum” before regionals ?

Just like the SEC Basketball tournament. Meaningless.

I'll take it a step further and say making a deep run actually hurts the team in the longrun than helps.

The results over the last 20 years bare that out.

To be fair the fact they went to the semis is not why they loss last weekend but I do find it funny that all those freaking out about the sec tournament wasted their time.

It’s only important if you’re a bubble team or need to win an auto bid.

Who was this crowd? Think most of us just wanted to watch LSU win some games on a big stage.

That’s a small data set. You need to go back at least 5 years to draw conclusions, imo.

for the "told you so crowd"

can we just enjoy the regional win and look forward to the super?

The only time the SEC tourney matters is if you’re a bubble team, on the edge of hosting a regional or on the edge of being a top 8 seed.

If you’re locked in, as LSU was into the top 8 this year, the SEC tourney is meaningless.

All of this is for the fans. Of course the players want to win.

Playing 2 or 3 games there to get the work in is helpful, and some guys may be able to use it as a springboard individually. But the team results don't matter.

So no accountability for the overreacting crybabies on this board the moment any adversity hits?

Go in and win the first game, just so it doesn't look to the committee that you're slumping. Look strong in the second game, but lose. Throw Little in the 3rd game. That should be the recipe every year. Play 3 games, go home.

Don't worry, we're going to have all the same arguments next year, right around this time. Also the regular season "co-SEC" champion is out, which is nice.

It’s important to line up your pitching in the SECT, work on some things, and try and get some kinks out if you are already a top seed. You don’t have to win games.

If you are fighting to get in the tourney or you are fighting to host it can help some. It’s important for teams like that to win sone games.

And to get a few pitchers and hitters back on track.

fans were likely wanting their own insecurities about the team calmed more than anything

I would rather the SEC tourney be a 4-team setup, similar to the Regional format as opposed to what we have now. Put the top 4 teams in the Conference in and get it done in 3 days. If not that, then just the top two teams playing a best-of-3. The current format is too grueling and is actually a detriment to the teams that last longer in the tourney.
