Great post and Sabin is on point. Some will not get it and and will have to move on but a one time incident may just wake them up and get them on track if handled properly.

I would have never thought that when my son was growing up but it is a different world today.

The second I read it I knew it was an honest mistake. People love to pile on. Excited for Bradfords future at LSU

Kids make mistakes

If every kid was cut for stealing or a simple mistake then no one would have a good football team

If its an ongoing problem then yes you eventually cut him but you try to help the kid first

Maybe you didn't grow up like him

Many of these kids grow up without good role models

I think in general it’s crazy to judge someone so harshly and cut short their potential based on petty theft. It’s just not that serious. He’s a child.

People forget stuff on the bottom rack of carts, all the time. If you think people legitimately forgetting to scan one item from their cart at self checkout doesn't happen you're very wrong.

This is not all from theft:
quote:

Beck's research also found that risk went up along with the size of shoppers' carts. Shoppers with 50 items in their cart had a 60% chance of having at least one un-scanned item, while shoppers with 100 items had an 86% chance of error.

My ex was a ditz and was looking at a lipstick in the store for so long she just stuck it in her purse without thinking (luckily I was paying attention). Things happen.

just don't see why they would even cite him if he made an honest mistake and was like "oh damn, my bad, I didn't even realize that I didn't scan that, let me go pay for it".

You’re kidding right? You think a young black kid can tell a cop “oh my bad” and just walk away?

Actually sometimes the scan doesn't work but you hear the beep from the customer next to you and think it did. That is understandable. I have had that happen a couple of times but most scanners will alert you that you placed an item in the bag without scanning it.

I did so much illegal shite when I was younger. The kid did something stupid. Punish him but don’t kick him off the team.

How do you accidentally steal something?

Obviously, you are too fricking stupid to even attempt to use the self checkout at walmart. it happens...

just keep standing in the long cashier assisted lines..You'll be just fine

Try it when buying more than your usual KY and rubber gloves and you may see accidents do happen

He is just a kid? He is 19. No problem with forgiveness but you are a scholarship athlete at LSU!

Amazing...so now it’s WBR fault. How about don’t fricking steal! You did. You got caught. One deal with whatever comes your way. No excuses!!!

What’s next? The proverbial “he was stopped because he was black”? I’m not saying suspend or cut them or get rid of them. What I’m saying is he made a mistake let him deal with the issues don’t bail him out and don’t make excuses for him.

I did some dumb stuff at his age, but I never stole. Never even crossed my mind that it was a possibility either.

When I was 17 my father died; we lost our home, i joined the military and served my country including living in a fox hole with united nation forces over seas; including one winter time were it was 60 degrees below zero. No white privilege, no stealing, just trying to better myself while serving my country!!!

I’ve never walked out of a store with something without paying for it. That is not as common of a “mistake” as you’d like to make it out to be.
