For Coach Chavis experimentation is over its time to decide

While understandable the time for experimentation is over. Due to the draft coach Chavis was forced to experiment with many young players at linebacker and the secondary, only now its leading to confusion and too many busted coverages.
Time for Chavis to settle on one group of players and stick with those players so they can learn more quickly to communicate and improve as a unit or they never will. The lack of communication is what's killing this Tiger D, not the lack of talent. The most important decision facing Chavis has been deciding what group of players he wants to develop as a unit to stop opposing teams that are close to the red zone or needing to score at the end of a game.
Chavis has yet to decide on that group, and now he's out of time. Chavis has been a great coach for LSU, his defenses have literally carried LSU on its back over the years so I trust he'll make that decision very soon.

I would have hoped this experiment would have been over after the AU game.

no our staff is reactive not proactive. we dont take steps to correct an issue until we lose once or twice

Very, very, very true!!!!!!! He and Miles are masters at sticking with what works or doesn't work, whichever the situation calls for.

Chavis needs to decide on whatever defensive group communicates best together and he needs to decide now so that can improve. Busted coverages are what's eating up the Tigers, not better talent.

My thoughts exactly. The players are playing timid and scared to make a mistake, because they get pulled after one mistake.

So agree with the OP. Great post.
Our D has no identity/chemistry. This was evident before yesterday.
ETA: I think we need to find something we can do well. Do it. Make other teams adjust to it and play outside their comfort zone.

I remember on LSU QB was was undefeated until he threw one interception in the Alabama game...he was basically not heard from again...that is not Player Development.

This obviously isn't true.

you are technically right, because they keep making the same mistakes....
but we are way too fast in designating a player as "not good" or putting him in the dog house.
Our coaches look the other way (pure ego) until they are shamed into fixing a problem.
That starts with Miles.

I don't think the Rant is giving UGA any credit for the offensive power they have. Do you all realize LSU held UGA to under 500 yds of offense - a feat nobody else has done this year including two other top ten teams. No, I am not satisfied but this game was exactly as I expected.

one man's "proactive" is another man's jumping the gun.

Loston was benched for most of the game, and was back for the end of game debacle. Collins and White were playing musical chairs. Every time one got burnt the other one came in. Name a starter and let them play and mistakes or bench him and give the back up a true shot.

While I agree, fans had stated chavis saved his job. But now that the d sucks its back on miles. cant have it both ways.

I don't remember Mills getting pulled every time he got burned. And yes, it was more than once. But you don't have to get pulled when the other team scores. You're already off the field.

Loston is good program player, but has yet to blossom. I'm not sure he ever will.
