For Any Who Missed Out on the Curly Era

You got a good taste of what it was like last Saturday.
And to be fair to Curly, I don't think he had the benefit of an expensive staff like Ed does or the talent.

There will be many O To Curly Hold my Beer Moments this season. Wait til we get into the meat of the SEC schedule. I hope my liver will make it.

Curly never lost to State by 30....

Also LSU's facilites during the Curly years looked like an old Russian insane asylum.

I think we have a lot of people in denial of where this program is heading. I know it was one game but that was a game that is all anyone needs to see.
We have a figurehead as the HC with assistants all doing there own thing.
This hire was absolutely critical for Alleva to regather this program. This decision could potentially set LSU back a decade.

I along with you and others have the foresight what others don't want to see and acknowledge. Even some of the biggest O loyalists are jumping ship. Failing this quick out of the shoot I couldn't ever predict. I thought O would be able to ride on fumes from last season at least to the Bama game, and I hammered the O hire. This is worse than I could ever imagine. I am sad by this. I really am. I bleed purple and gold and I hate hate that I was right about this. I was hoping today we would be talking about business as usual Tiger win over Miss State. Instead we are seeing the reality raining down on our faces.

I'm not anti-O. There's nothing I would like to see more than for O to have a long and prosperous and championship filled tenure as HC here.
But I'm not convinced yet that it was only "one game." UF '16 was one game; those happen. What happened Sat night wasn't lack of talent, depth, or experience, first road game, and on and on.
Sadly, it has Ed's fingerprints all over it.

Yeah I really expected better this year. Not Bc O is some great coach, but I thought between his enthusiasm and Canada's new offense, the team would look good.
I think the season could still be finished respectably. State is good, and the DL depth is thin. But if penalties are cleaned up and WRs catch the ball when it hits them in the face, suddenly the team will be competitive again. But LSU is a long ways from being nationally relevant again.

I remember during the Curly years when my goal for the game was just that we not be embarrassed. 25 years later, we're headed back to that. Before you downvote, think realistically if we can avoid embarrassment against Bama, Auburn, UF, etc... ATM might be the one SEC team we can beat based on what we saw last week,

TAF is in way too deep with astronomical debt load for Crazy Bout Curley v2.0

Canada was the most overrated hire based on his historical performance.

Sickening to realize that when CLM was fired and the house should have been cleaned of all previous connections with that era, residue was left untouched. And more big time mistakes were made in hiring new staff. Coaches of championship caliber are not plug and play components. They build, maintain or destroy whole programs. Alleva and all his bean counters seem to have had the wrong idea about hiring coaches for LSU football. Now there will be hell to pay.

Do we as the fan base care too much about something that is just entertainment? I for one have invested too much emotionally, but I addressed that two years ago when Alleva and King made the university look like bullies for trying to get rid of Les in 2015. The media was in Miles corner when they realized that Miles looked beaten down after rumors started to come out. To Miles credit he stayed classy through it which made LSU look even worse. So now I will sit back and watch the miracle comeback of LSUs season or be a witness to train wreck. Either way, its just entertainment.
