re: For all those complaining about fan support at home games

This. Our fan base has just really regressed over the past 5 years. Other big time programs show out week in and week out. Watching games at home is easy and convenient sure… but it will never beat the real thing. I’ll always put up with the traffic for those memories watching the tigers

A deterrent for me that I haven’t seen mentioned is the hotel prices. Five years ago I could find a room for under $300/night. Now the same places want $500+/night and it’s minimum two night stay. I can’t spend $1,000 on hotels every home game.

I would like the add the fact that pre-game atmosphere is nowhere close to what it was in the 2000's - early 2010's. I don't know how to explain it other than the flow is not the same.
- They list the starting line-up 40 minutes before kick-off making it almost un-noticeable to the fans instead of right before the band marches out like they used to ( perfect example )
- They don't read the opponent's starting line-up like they used to when the fans would yell "SUCKS" after every player.
- They play Callin' Baton Rouge too early.(used to be ending right as the team ran back into the tunnel) Absolutely perfect flow.
- They don't tour Mike around the stadium anymore as Eye of The Tiger is blaring over the speakers.
- The Band is not as loud as they used to be, you can barely hear the alma mater unless you're west side lower bowl.
- The band director conducts the anthem way too fast then slows it down towards the end making it impossible for fans to sing along.
TL;DR pre-game atmosphere is a watered down version of what it used to be
This all probably has less to do with fan support and more with me needing somewhere to vent that without starting a thread.

This. I actively root against LSU because of it. I now regret graduating from there.

Gee, can’t see why they quit doing that

You couldn’t see him through the flattened expanded metal on his cage anyway. No one other than low IQ drunks and kids under six gave a shite about whether or not Mike got drug around the stadium and I doubt that’s a
Factor in people attending a
Game.

I drive in from three and a half hours away. and also drive to a couple of away games each year. Most BR trips are made there and back in one day. We enjoy all of it. Things are never going to be the same and 15 years from now, folks will be talking about how much better things were in the 2020’s. I number of things may not be my preference, but I’m not letting it ruin my passion for LSU football. You tend to find what you’re looking for in life, and reality becomes whatever you chose to focus on. My family and I had a ball Saturday and I can’t wait till the Bama game, win or lose.

tailgating rules,
What’s the new tailgating rules I’ve seen mentioned more than once in this thread?

-Lots of migration out of the state which probably impacts fan support a little. one of the few states actually losing population.
Outward migration is a problem, but Louisiana's population increased according to the last census.
I believe Mississippi was the only state that actually had a net population loss.
Also, attendance is not an LSU only problem. Most of the non LSU games I've watched on television show an abundance of empty seats, Alabama included.

Did anyone watch the SC game? They had a state fair going at the same time (absolute parking nightmare) and they still packed the shite out of WB stadium....against a 3-3 aTm team (not a rival) they have lost to consistently.

You may have to stay further away from campus.
Hotel prices are also the reason we bought a camper. It has paid for itself and we enjoy using it for multiple purposes.

I drive in for every home game from Houston. I am fortunate to be in a good sized tailgate group. We tailgate before the game and usually gather back at the site for a few drinks after the game to wait for traffic to clear. For the 11am Tennessee game we grilled burgers afterward and watched football. You can make the experience fun if you put some effort in to it.

Why does this make you uncomfortable?

LOL, and I took your spot when you stopped giving...as the world turns, so will LSU, LSU Football, and TAF without your type of support. You should be ashamed of yourself. Your family should be ashamed of you.

This is happening country wide, not just at LSU. Tennessee maybe being an exception because they show up no matter what and painted Death Valley orange.
I got in my truck after the game around 6:20ish made it to Walker by 7:30, I was actually surprised on how quick it was.
A lot of people just can't afford to bring their family of 3-4 to a game. Just myself Saturday for the Ole Miss game I spent $75 on a ticket, water, & 4 beers ($40). It's not cheap (of course you don't have to drink at the games but I do). I've been to every home game so far & have a trip to Fayatteville planned when we play Arkansas.

No complaints from me on Saturday.
Great weather, fun tailgate, great game, took me 20 minutes to get home.
