pay for all the other fees associated with life just like the rest of the students

Exactly. Where does all of these millions of dollars that are supposedly being made off of these players end up? It ends up back in the program - the locker room facilities, training staff, team doctors, uniforms, equipment, workout facilities, nutrition centers, coaching staff, etc. These things are all top shelf as well. Aside from the coaches, no individuals are raking in millions.
So, fine, pay them. But they should then have to pay for use of all that stuff. How much do you think 10-15 hrs a week with Scott Cochran or Tommy Moffit would cost you or me?

No, dumb frick. Did you read the OP - probably not.

Hopefully no one did because it is fricking stupid and inaccurate.

Most NCAA athletes aren't on scholarships and the ones who are most of them aren't on full-ride scholarships.

Exactly. And an even higher percentage cost the schools far more money than the school profits from them being there.

quote:

CA bill is aimed at those athletes who aren't on scholarships. Why? Because it's the majority of them!

The California bill is aimed at no one and exists to give the athletes grounds to legally pursue the ncaa for preventing them from competing for making money off their likeness.

In your stupid example of the NCAA “capping it at $10,000”, even if that were to happen eventually someone on a Reggie Bush or Zion Williamson level will come along and sue because they would be worth far more $10,000, and the ncaa would be limiting that. It will be exact same situation as right now.

It’s amazing how right you think you are while simultaneously being completely clueless.

Either you are a colossal idiot and you think schools don't profit off of student's tuition, books, and room & board and schools cover "far more" expenses than that OR you're just a regular idiot and you misread what I said. I said:

That’s what I’ve been saying. If they want to make money then they need to share in the costs as well.

The way you guys think because of jealousy is beyond stupid. So do you contribute to the cost of your place of employment?

Neither. The correct answer once again is that you’re a fricking moron that thinks the only money schools are paying to athletes is scholarship related. Nevermind that every athlete on every roster gets all of their healthcare and medical needs covered for that duration. Nevermind all the equipment and apparel they get. Nevermind the 11 meals per week they all get. Nevermind all of the plane tickets or chartered flights, nice hotel rooms, and per diem for away competitions. Nevermind the world class facilities and training staff they have nearly unlimited access to. And let’s not forget all the tutoring and academic services they pay absolutely nothing for.

It’s hard to properly state how clueless and out of your depth you are here, At least you’re good at bolding words I guess.

The NCAA isn't going to have the right to restrict what players can earn for endorsements. But that's just nickel and dime stuff. The real revolution will be in recruiting. Players have been paid to sign before, but there were consequences if you got caught. Now there will be none. Promise a kid $150,000 for "endorsements" if he comes to your school. The booster doesn't care at all about the endorsement, he's just buying the player.

Save your breath, amigo. OP has been blasting the same inane message across boards for days looking for attention.

How much does playing for a school like LSU help their chances of playing in the NFL? I would say quite a bit. There is no true minor league team for football.

They are contributing. They work hard for the University and Television plasters the big name schools and players all over advertising to get people to watch. I don’t like all of this but some of this needs to happen. Band members can teach private lessons on the side for money as well as other students... Athletes should be able to do the same.

Now, state governments are forcing the change by saying "if you don't want to work with us then we don't have to follow your rules" - and that's a good thing! Because we don't live in fricking Russia or China!

How many of those government experts have ever ran a business or participated in sports?

The NCAA has their faults but the sports have been giving more young folks access every year for decades. What makes you think the ideas of Kap, Reid, and Lebron are good for the sport. Those players have awesome records of managing their own money. Duh

The SEC made ~$660,000,000 last year. Greg Sankey makes $1,900,000 a year. All of that is made off the work of the players.

And you’re saying that free education and healthcare is adequate? Gee thanks. They pay for their plane tickets and hotel rooms to travel to play in a game in which the conference will make millions? Wow. Thanks again buddy.

If it went back to one game a Saturday, no tv, no big multi million dollar tv contracts, no 7 figure salaries for the commissioner - then I get your point. However, they set up the HUGE cash cow that it is. And it’s going in that direction now. If you wanted to be afraid of change, you’re late. You should have been afraid when the SEC network was formed.

You and I are wasting our breath. These retards need to go spend some time in Russia. That's the only way they would see our point. They've never left their home town, they don't know how the world works.

TLDR to any thread that has anything to do with this shite that's not taking effect till 2023.

There's enough shite going on to talk about the games. This is the most monotonous discussion I've ever heard and it's 3 freaking years away

I'm starting to agree with you. I tried to explain how/why it wouldn't reach near the magnitude that people fear, but there are too many simpletons out there who just don't understand how the world works. This is why the gov't hides things from the mass, because they're idiots - they cause their own hysteria.

Okay! But be damned sure the SP league (and/or the university athletic department) reimburses me (John Q. Taxpayer) for the subsidized services my tax dollars provide to the league.

Fair enough?
