Or we could just have players who don’t commit felonies.

You do realize that no one forces you to pay attention right?

If a back up LB being suspended gets you in a tizzy I would just shut it down and watch the games.

The last few years should have convinced you enough to not entirely buy into what goes on in the offseason amyways.

If u just recruited "straight laced" kids, anybody in the sec would win 3 games. There's a reason vandy constantly sux.

All major football playing institutions rely mainly on kids from impoverished families. Just stating facts. Everybody is gonna have these issues. Most of us here grew up in our quiet suburban neighborhoods, with good families, decent incomes, chances to go to college. The thought process is different. These kids grew up with nothing. Nothing. They don't commit crimes just because. This is survival.

People will point to Stanford and say, oh, but they win 10 games a year with good kids. They wouldn't win 10 in the sec and even playing in the PAC have only had spotty success.

I don’t buy into that... Robbing a bank is not survival, it’s thuggery. Growing up poor isn’t an excuse for robbing a bank and committing felonies.

Come on dude, there's no justifiable reason anyone on our team should be robbing pawn shops. It has nothing to do with football and everything to do with Tyler making a poor decision no matter how you slice it.

Why not look at football as survival? Most (if not all) of these kids have ambitions of going pro. Why would you jeopardize that over helping rob a pawn shop? I’m not sure that “survival” method of thinking is why he did what he did.

Didn’t Vandy have some kids locked up for rape?

If you find reality to be a downer just search and read Ree's numerous threads about how Eaux is making the program better. Championship caliber really

Which raises some uncomfortable questions about why so many of us are so vested in watching these kids perform.

Love for our school and the sport I'd say, but your point is taken. most of us would probably not really want to know what goes on behind the scenes

I’m not sure about the rest of his post, but that’s the part he’s probably right about.

yeah. enrolled for a free education, free housing, free meals, tutoring, free nike apparel, and an exercise and nutrition program. we act like some of these kids were discovered on a Christian childrens fund commercial and adopted from their tribe.

he wasn't forced to go. he made a choice.
