Football Internships

Is there a way that players could get paid for playing football in other methods by way of internships? Can a player work as part of the staff and earn extra money and call an internship? I feel like this may be a dumb question, but there should be other ways to make money being involved in football other than just playing. Just looking for a loophole I guess.

You don’t have to look, loopholes are used by nearly every major college football program to pay players.

The players should get paid a set amount of money every week.( $800-1000)No matter who or how good they are. Just to live off of, but. And with all the millions the alot of programs bring in i think it’s feasible.

I think they should get paid, but about as much as every other college student makes working a normal job. Anywhere from $10-$15 per hour I'd say is about fair. Anything more should be done in a professional career after graduation or getting drafted. That pay should also come with more responsibility within the football program and the university.

Not much information ever became public but apparently Memphis basketball players when Calipari coached there got paid internships with Fed Ex that they didn’t actually work.

There is another way, but it’s the same way they’ve always gotten paid. Illegally.

see NCAA Title IX
... will not happen.
I would not mind seeing that tied to "BOWL PARTICIPANTS"
but will not happen either.

I guess I’m a cheap dad. I give my boys $500 a month (not week) to live off of. If the want more, then they need to get a job.

More money on top of the stipend they receive?

Yes they can become interns. But then they cant play. Interns are not eligible personnel

Under title 9 that means you'd have to also pay ladies croquet!

A lot of these kids get pretty nice rides when they get on campus. They don't really have much time for a "job" between time in class and time with the athletic department.
Now, our players don't all mysteriously acquire brand new Chargers like at ... other schools ... But they end up with some pretty nice rides, regardless.
I'm not on the inside nor have I ever been, but it's pretty obvious that rule "bending" pretty much happens everywhere you look.

Good god I am so sick of this pay the players, the colleges make millions off of their work viewpoints. A few fun facts/strong likelyhoods:
1)NOBODY is forcing them to play. If you don't want to be exploited by the NCAA, don't play. Problem solved.
2) There are only a small percentage of Manzell, honey badger, etc.. types that actually GENERATE revenue individually. For the most part, revenue is generated COLLECTIVELY by these guys playing as a team.
3) They get a free education, room and board, and are treated LIKE A KING around campus. Believe me, they manage to scrape by. The value of this to each player has to be 60-100 grand at least per year.
4) They receive the ULTIMATE in coaching, nutrition, etc.. They also are exposed to the ultimate job fair-NFL scouts scour the collegiate ranks to find guys who perform well so they can pay them hundreds of thousands and up to millions per year to play pro ball. I would imagine your typical engineering student DOES NOT receive this type of placement program as a rule.
5) I think most people realize these guys (or their families) are being compensated under the table very well for what that player is producing, or will produce.
In short, these guys are not squeaking by!!!
