A good friend of mine, had an HCIW offer. He passed on it. With Bill Snyder at K State. In 2009, when Bill made his second run.
Sometimes it's better to pass on a job, Jimbo Fisher passed on one to get the Fla St. job.

Actually it is not.
While at Notre Dame his reputation was that he beat the teams he was supposed to beat and then some.
Here, he lost to Bama, Ole Miss and Fla State last year, all of which finished ranked in the to 10.
Arguably, Texas AM in 2022 was the only game he dropped in which LSU was comfortably favored.

We are not going 8-4 unless we have some disastrous injuries.
NIL changed the game, but we will wind up with potentially the #1 overall class.
D-line won’t be as bad as people think and secondary will be serviceable with Baker at the helm.

It’s going to happen at some point.
It’s inevitable that a team with a playoff spot all but locked up gets beat in a CCG then gets left out of the playoff.
With a 12 team playoff, CCGs are obsolete unless they are the first round of said playoff.
