They have to log a certain number of flight hours for training anyway, so why not fly over nearly 100k people and excite them for a few minutes.

because it is bad arse
the wave is played out. F-16s going x mph at low altitude over a packed stadium of Muricans is not played out.

No disrespect to the service...they are the bravest men I know...but why are people so intrigued about flyovers during games. There is a thread every week on this. I dont get why they do flyovers for games in the first place...except Super Bowl.
Simple answer recruiting... and your tax dollars and work

was it the Aubie game when the Ch-47 Chinook's flew over? It was an away game. Maybe it was Bama.
I just remember my chest pounding as they flew over...and not from being jacked up

Probably a better use than 50% of the other BS.

well gee wally, if you have to tell everybody how big a fan you are and how "jacked up" you already are.....sounds like you have some self-conscious issues, mr. "jacked up-imasbigatigerfanasyouare."

Not getting fired up about the military participating in the game with a flyover is un-American.

there is a pilot on the ground with a radio that gives them cues kind of like calling in an airstrike

And that ground controller works with the band on the field to coordinate the timing. I loved being on the field and knowing exactly when the jets would go over tiger stadium. Gives me chills right now thinking about those times. Was very cool to hear the reaction of the crowd when you know it's coming

For those who might care:
During WWII there was an Army Air Corp flight school in Baton Rouge. As they polished their flying skills students pilots would buzz (the empty) Tiger stadium. One day one of them clipped the scored board and crashed on the east bank Mississippi levee, killing himself.
