I was 13, my Dad and I listened to that game on the radio, big win and was really exciting to go to the Orange Bowl.

Makes me feel old. I was a freshman in the student section. You could smell the oranges all the way up the stadium. There were no oranges left in the grocery stores and at the end of the game very little turf could be seen especially in the NEZ.

That fog was creepy. Couldn’t see the opposite side. It just settled in the bowl and stayed there. Never seen it like that before or since.

Was 17 at that game. Had oranges infused with vodka. Sucked them all out before we threw them. Sat in the middle of some frat seats. Got there really early before their pleabs got there to hold the seats. They hated the fact we were there but they knew not to f**k with us after I put a sorority girls cigarette out with my hand (old trick I learned). The fog rolling in was epic. One of the greatest games in Tiger Stadium history.

If they would do this today half the student section would leave and go sit in a safe space for 2 days

My first great memory at Tiger Stadium. I was 14 and sat in the north end zone and threw oranges on the field! And then sat through the Tulane loss a week later! The beginning of the Hilliard James Gang!

I watched it on T.V. at the age of 12. But the sight of oranges flying will stay in my mind forever.

Can still hear John Ferguson trying to call the game through the fog, "looking for a receiver, throws a long pass, where is he? There he is! He's got it, touchdown!

I was there. The fog rolling in in the fourth quarter was icing on the cake.

I was in ROTC and we were supposed to guard the field. Getting hit by oranges hurt like hell...Yeah, oranges thrown from the higher parts of the north end zone fill like a punch- LOL

I’m good friends with Kelly Lowrey, the Fla St QB in that game. He still talks about the oranges flying down onto them on the field! Lots of funny stories from him about playing LSU.

Was in the student section helping insure all oranges made it to the field.

Other than ‘79 USC, my all-time favorite game as a student.

On December 5th, it will have been 52 years since the Ole Miss "Oranges" game, which LSU won 61-17 to secure a bid to the Orange Bowl against Nebraska.

I was there. It rained oranges. They handed them out in the cafeterias. I lived in Kirby Smith and we were encouraged to take oranges to the game to throw! I cannot imagine the university sponsoring something like that today. I was 18. It was a magical football season with our only regular season losses to Notre Dame (0-3) and A&M.

What a night. I was there. Grocery stores were calling the athletic department to give them a heads up about all the oranges being bought,

Nah, students were way ahead of that. We had flyers made saying that the food bank was collecting fresh fruit for the poor. Used those at the grocery stores and the gates to get them in.

The Orange Rain. The Risher to Martin bomb. The mysterious fog that drifted in.

One of my Top 5 LSU games.
