no he is not...not yet.
he could have a breakout game at any time, because he has talent,
but he has not done it yet.

I saw him complete one solid deep pass...i think it was the first play of the game.

should clarify.. my post was regarding Brantley, but could somewhat easily apply to Driskel.

I'm not giving you a spiel - I'm calling you out on two points of faulty logic:

1. You disagree with me, offer nothing to sway the argument with facts, then resort to name calling. This is a wholly ineffective technique that does nothing to advance your argument. And it’s factually incorrect to boot.

2. The “I was there so I know better” argument is baseless. Your proximity to the players and stadium atmosphere certainly provided a superior experience to my watching the game on TV, but unless some snaps were played during commercial breaks, we watched the same game. The game where Florida’s freshman QB properly handled our defensive scheme – which included lots of blitzing – and picked us apart.

In calling you out on the first point I decided to try to be clever. I’m pretty sure I was older than you in 2003 as well. (See, I did it again)

The second point is the crux of my initial response to your post: there’s fairly recent precedent disproving that constantly blitzing a young Florida QB is the formula for victory.

Hang on to that crowd intensity argument.

i'm sticking with my opinion that florida is capable of beating us and if our team adopts the attitude that they aren't BASED ON ONE HALF OF A FOOTBALL GAME, they may very well pull it off. it has happened before.

I would put it this way. Given the circumstances, Florida has no chance of beating LSU - but LSU can surely beat itself if they don't come ready to play.

First play of the game was a deep pass thrown by Brantley not by Jeff Driskel.

Please explain. I'm glad you are not in the locker room or coaching our kids.

Florida is a very talented team with a very adept coaching staff. Anyone who believes this will be a walkover is a fool. As for true freshman QB's, I'm sure everyone recalls what happened the last time Florida started a true freshman QB in DV against an undefeated and highly rankes LSU team. And that was against the 2003 defense, which was statistically much better than the 2011 defense at the same point in the season.

I disagree. You must think FLA is no better than Kentucky.

Not to mention Florida is scoring 34.2 points per game and only giving up 14.8 points per game. And blew out a common opponent worst than what we did.

Dude...if you don't want to believe that teams sometimes come out flat and lose games because of lack of intensity/motivation...you go ahead. Been involved in this far too long to debate something stupid like that with someone like you.

You realize the 79 USC game blows your argument out of the water, right?

I'm a bigger fan of the Tigers than you obviously. With your reasoning, Les Miles should give the team off the rest of the week and not prepare. Oh wait, you never state any reasoning just shoot off whatever you think. Quit following me around.

good god....mississippi state was averaging 45 points a game and 600 yards offense when lsu played them ....your point? And please don't give me this argument of "well this team beat them by this amount, and we only beat them by this amount crap"....it shows two things...your lack of intelligence and that you are young.

LSU will have to score more points than Florida to win.

I said run the ball early. Quit taking out phrases and quoting me. Running early in the game. They are coming in fired up especially from reading bullentin board material you present how they will be a cake walk. Florida did not try to run early on Bama, they came out throwing.

You got that right!

That's the only way to beat a team that will try to air it out when they can't run and have a mindset of winning the game.

Peej - you're posing a quandry for me in this thread. On the one hand, I wholeheartedly agree that we should take Florida 100% seriously - they are very dangerous at this moment. We will receive 100% of their attention for Saturday, and, regardless of the fact he played HS football last year, the young QB is going to have a week to prepare to play the biggest game of his life.

Likewise, I counted 8 to 10 Florida starters that LSU recruited at some point in the process. That alone speaks to their talent level. Muschamp and Weis, whatever you think of them, have legitimate coaching credentials.

However, on the other hand, ANYTIME I catch myself starting to agree with you, in the slightest, I have to do a reality check. I have to question: "Have I lost my mind? Have I crossed over to the Bizarro Rant where PJ is a genius? Have I had a stroke?", etc.

I'm a peacemaker and a bridgebuilder - let me toss you a softball - can you at least, now, as we sit here on October 3, 2011, admit that you were wrong in the past when you asserted Larry Coker was a much better coach than Les Miles? You don't even have to admit either is a "good coach" because I know you can't do that.

But can you admit you were wrong about Coker being better than Miles?

(The journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step....)
