The ultimate irony.

Jindal is the whole reason Alexander has to beg hat in hand to the legislature.

We actually had Jimbo on the hook.

Unreal.

Jindal had influence but he was NOT the sole or necessarily the primary reason the deal was stopped in its tracks. Alexander made what he thought was a prudent decision for the university as a whole, not just football. Whether you agree with him or not, that's the way he should make his decisions.

The only way this is true is if he then pressures all of the donors and boosters and athletic department to donate all of the money they possibly can to academics at the peril of their own programs.

Nope. When LSU approaches the legislature in desperate need of funding after having dumped millions of dollars into a coaching change, legislators from most parts of the state will say get fricked. They don't give a shite if the money came only from athletic boosters.

You leave out the fact JBE ALSO supports Les Miles staying.

Try to think, what's more influential, a lame duck, or an incoming Gov., so why not blame JBE's support of Les Miles, you doof.

So, now that the facts have come out, it's clear Alleva was the only guy really looking out for LSU's football interest here. He was gagged, undermined, and then used as the scapegoat. He seemed to be the only one using common sense here. Had he come out and publicly said, earlier when we were negotiating with Jimbo, the deal would have been killed. He was trying to get something DONE and the politicians would have nothing to do with it.

Nice. Maybe next time some of you posters can use some common sense before hanging Alleva out to dry.

I've seen this said, but haven't seen a link

Also, jbe hasn't gutted LSU like Jindal has. He deserves zero input and has been a complete enemy of LSU, partly for his attempt to try and become president

frick Jindal

#1 King and the board are all Jindal yes men.
#2 No one has reported that JBE intervened. Everyone saying Jindal + his henchman did.

Don't try to make this partisan.

So that means you are done with Shaq too? He stood right there with Maria Taylor and gutted LSU process on the broadcast and it was played and replayed all weekend...

From the original article

quote:

Gov.-elect John Bel Edwards, meanwhile, said this week he had nothing to do with decision. “There were rumors that I had said absolutely that we would not come up with $15 million (to buy out Miles’ contract), and some rumors said I was trying to drive him away,” Edwards told The Advocate. “The truth is, none of that is true. I had absolutely nothing to do with it.”

You idiots are blaming the wrong folks..Negotiating means Sexton/Fisher refused LSU first offer. They got greedy and thats when King got nervous

Shaq has no power. Shaq didn't hand pick the board and F. King.

And why do you assume I was ever with Shaq? I don't even like bball.

We "idiots" are just believing what Alexander said HIMSELF. Your theory above is not what Alexander straight up said HIMSELF.

I am no Alleva supporter but this was what I was saying all along. When you step back from the picture Alleva was just trying to execute orders from a herd of cats and wound up having to deal with it publicly afterward...JMHO

Pretty amazing. I guess Alleva didn't have the political strategy experience to see Miles doing an end around run to Jindal's Krewe.

Any job at that high of a level is 99% politics.
