Don't walk on the grass. They have a fetish about that.

Dixie Chicken is a cool place to eat and hang out
Lots of cool little restaurants and bars close to the Dixie Chicken on University Dr
Traffic is much better than LSU. Lots of big roads in and out making it much easier to get around
They are weird folks

We went in 2022. Was a fun trip except for the outcome.
After you experience Kyle Field you'll never complain about our piped in music again. It's Non stop techno pop like Avicii and Cascada

Aggie here in peace to answer the OPs question...
Glad you will be making your first trip. Despite the hate I sense on this board, Aggies in general are probably one of the most hospitable fan bases to most fans; that is, good guests usually come away with the experience of being invited to Aggie tailgates, offered free beer and food, told "Howdy" a lot as you walk campus, and such.
I find it difficult to advise opposing fans because some opposing fans want to "stick to their own" and avoid the other school's traditions, etc., but some enjoy these road trips to experience them. That said...
Friday
1 - Northgate - area of bars and restaurants - good for the Tiger holy huddle or mingling with the opposition. The "mainstays" that everyone points to are "musts" are the Dixie Chicken and the Dry Bean (also known as the "Dry Heave" shot bar). They are next door to each other, so easy to find. But in the last 10-20 years, Northgate has developed a lot so there's many choices now. Given your limited time, Northgate is the easiest to point people not familiar with the area too. The College Station area has a lot of other bars, restaurants, and even a winery to visit peppered throughout town, some would say individually better than anything on Northgate, but again, keep it simple.
2 - Midnight Yell - It's an Aggie event at midnight in Kyle Field. Many simply walk from Northgate through campus to get there. And yes, opposing fans often come and sit in the wings to watch it. Sometimes I have even seen the good sports of other schools in with the Aggies (I distinctly remember Clemson for example). Fair warning, the Yell Leaders tell the dumbest jokes, but that is actually what the joke is (like dad jokes, people wait to see how corny they are).
Saturday -
1 - Since it will be a 6:30 PM, you actually have time that morning to grab brunch and if you're the type, take in the Bush Presidential Library. LINK /
2 - Tailgating... someone mentioned Aggie Park for tailgating. Actually, I recommend against that as the park isn't very easy to set up in for visitors. Here is a parking guide and map.
Navigate to the link with the Map, then you can click on lots.
It will tell you if there is prepaid parking.
My recommendation for opposing fans is to try to get parking in West Campus garage and set up in the grassy areas around Lot E (TONS of tailgating and not as congested to get to as Aggie Park).
Secondarily, the Gene Stallings Lot.
Last, there is a cash lot by the Bush Library, but it's quite the walk to Kyle Field. LINK
Shuttles - If parking is not your thing, there are shuttles - see the link on the parking map.
3 - If tailgating is not your thing and you are interested in taking in Gameday atmosphere and traditions on campus (or if you began tailgating early and want to depart the tailgate early to experience it), as Texas A&M was an all-male military college until 1965 and as the Corps of Cadets is still central today, 90 minutes before kickoff (so, 5 pm), at the Quad (where the Corps lives), they will fire a cannon after forming up and begin march in through campus, led by the Band. Many opposing fans like to see it simply because it's mostly military ballads and somewhat patriotic.
4 - Just my personal preference, but I like to get to seats 1 hour or no less than 45 minutes before kickoff to take in the atmosphere. Knowing Texas A&M's history, the "military meets major university" atmosphere will make sense. So the national anthem, state song, and the singing of the Spirit of Aggieland can be interesting to opposing fans, or fans simply of the pageantry of college football environments when going to away games.
Safe travel and again, opposing fans of good nature get treated very well when visiting! Have fun, except of course with the scoreboard!

I've had the misfortune of living in CS for a while
* La Salle hotel is haunted. If that kind of thing bugs you avoid that place.
* Fuego isn't very good. I much prefer Mad Taco, Velvet Taco or Torchy's if you're going to do that kind of thing, but some of the taco trucks in town are better than any of those
* Layne's isn't good. Just avoid.
* Fargo's isn't around anymore. I've enjoyed All the King's Men in Bryan if you want an alternative that isn't a chain
* I can vouch for Porter's. Great steakhouse. There's free parking in the garage at the end of the Century Square kind of by the movie theater
* Seriously don't wear your hat indoors on campus, you will offend the Aggies
* The grass thing is just the memorial. Don't walk on the grass there, it's clearly marked and would be a dumb thing to do anyway
* Dixie Chicken is crazy on game days but is probably the best game day type bar if you are up to fight the crowds
* Mess Waffles at Century Square is amazing but only open for breakfast. Chicken and waffles place
* There are shuttles all over the place to the game if you don't want to pay for parking. I believe the information is on their website somewhere
* Museum of the Military GI is worth a visit, they have a private collection of old World War I and II era vehicles
I could probably say a lot more but yea. College Station isn't a bad town, and Aggies are generally friendly to visiting fan bases. It hasn't been my favorite place to live by any stretch but when I move on I'll definitely be coming back for a game day. Hope you enjoy your trip

My sister lives up there, so I’ve made the trip several times since aTm joined.
Northgate is good for a drink.
It’s a very clean campus. Folks are nice enough.
The environment to me is just sterile. Maybe it’s the architecture? Maybe it’s because their stadium is very clean and NFL-ish? Don’t get me wrong, the fans get into it and it’s a good gameday atmosphere. To me, it just doesn’t compare to Auburn, Bama, and some of the older SEC places.

Walnut - Just to clarify one of your points.... you can wear hats in all buildings on campus, except the Memorial Student Center. At A&M, with its history of being a military college, the fact the MSC is dedicated to Aggies lost in wars is taken seriously.
All other buildings... totally fine to wear hats indoors.
PS - Cadets are required to take hats off in all buildings, but that's military custom not beholding to everyone else.

Hit up the Dixie Chicken. Other than that, the town is generic.

College station pretty much sucks.

Aggie fans are friendly, but definitely odd. Find some older Aggies and ask them to explain the traditions (12th Man, all the statues, dog cemetery, etc) and try to keep a straight face - they take all of it waaayyy too seriously.
Watch the Cadets march in before the game; you’d think after so many years they could get it to flow without stacking up.
Dixie Chicken is overrated (like the Grove), but it’s a tradition you need to see. To actually eat & get a drink without as much hassle. try the Irish Pub sorta across the street from there.
The stadium (aka Big Tackle Box) is huge and can get really loud. In 2022 they were still selling drinks in cups marked with the 74-72 7OT score.
If they could ever live up to their own delusions, they’d be a dangerous rival, but their history says they’ll just remain strange. Excellent academics though, and there’s still an argument who has the better military history between them and LSU. The Corps is deceiving as an jndicator of military pedigree; only a relatively small number of Cadets actually go on to actually serve - which makes the hoopla around the Corps even more puzzling.

Don’t walk on the grass
Oh, and if you see the dude walking Reveille do not try to pet him. Only an a-hole fricks with somebody elses baby and dog without permission. But there are consequences for the dog (not babies) in CS.
Last time I went it was ok to mill around on field after the game. If that's still a thing and the SEC hasn't freaked out yet, go for it. It's a great experience.
Their nosebleeds are really really high up there at the endzone. Never sat up there, but looks miserable.
Otherwise no complaints. At least they don't have a-hole cops freaking out over SiO2 like Florida cops.

Get there right before the game and leave as soon as the game is over.

I am going too…seeking revenge, my first and only time there was 74-72. Not there to make any friends, and will be protecting my sons cornholes as well this time
