Apathetic isn't the right word to describe such a "fan"; it's closer to pathetic.

I get it and I'm in no way trying to make Etling out to be some great QB. But, we heard a lot about Air Canada with a senior 4 star QB that was going to spread the ball around to the playmakers and be very multiple. Sounds a lot like what's been said this off-season as well.

So, the LSU fanbase has talked you into no longer liking your football team? We have not played the first snap, so there is really nothing to be either excited or disapointed about...think about that.

This will be one of our best football teams.

We have lots of tough games ahead but I feel the odds are better for us to win one or both of the games against Alabama and Georgia than to lose both.

on paper this looks/sounds great.....then I think of senior QBs like Jordan Jefferson and the luster kind of goes away.

Etling gets props for trying and being a good Tiger...but the dude was a Purdue cast-off. think about that.

Some people see the Danny Etling experiment as a success. I'm not one of them.

I suppose I wouldn't call it a success either. But i also wouldn't call it a failure. What Etling lacked in physical ability, he more than made up for it with heart, in my opinion.

Not winning the "big games" shouldn't fall entirely on Etlings shoulders. There's plenty of blame to go around.

This leads me to my next point. Don’t smoke crack.

Also, the LSU fan base has forgotten what elite talent looks like. Outside of white not one of the players on this team would have started for the 2003, 2007, or 2011 team.

Sorry if you can't see we have a chance to have a good QB and OC. We should have a better QB than 2011. We have a better DC than 2011. In 2 games with Bama we scored how many points in 2011. Sorry your dumb.

More than the current OC has scored.

2 years ago after 2nd offensive series at Lambeau, I had a similar feeling but i forced it to dissipate.

Right now? Really? To me, these underrated and under appreciated seasons are the absolute most fun. Like another poster said, quit reading all the negative crap and getting caught up in the administrative minutia.

No one cares about your apathy.

Just don't watch. Pick another team.
There's plenty to be excited about. A new era on offense. Possibly an answer to our quarterback issues. We have a potentially great defense.
Sure it may go south but the football bounces oddly and sometimes it bounces the wrong way.
What made you excited in 2014 (8-5), 2015 (9-3) or 2016 when we started 2-2?

It’s honestly more common than you think. People are tired of horrible hires, embarrassing behavior and no accountability.

I love LSU, but I’m not going to support them if they refuse to run themselves appropriately and accept mediocrity and take unnecessary risks hiring a proven failure and hoping he’ll magically somehow become a good head coach.

It is the stupid idea that you should be excited no matter what because “LSU” that has led to the mediocrity we are mired in. I never bought LSU would be the poster boy for the participation trophy generation

usually have a burning in my stomach for the season to start, reading all the previews online and in print, counting down the days. Just don't feel it this year
For me, what you describe began during the later CLM years, when the expectations ran high, the hype was over the top, the talent and potential was deep and strong, but... the performance on the field left so much to be desired, and the coaching at game times was increasingly, obviously, lacking. Pinnacle of crash and burn letdowns for me was 1/9/12. It was clear Les Miles was clueless, and his staff as well. Lost whatever edge they may have ever had, and nationally LSU began its slowly accelerating slide into mediocrity. Excitement at game time, in stadium electricity, diminished. CLM still seemed clueless.

From that point on, I tucked my wildest expectations away and put college football in perspective. Just a business - just a game.
